The CHRISTMAS Thread

I'm still in.

So what's everyone's favourite Chrimbo song?

Mine is Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone. Not the most brilliantly written song, but it's the most fun to listen to and sing along IMO.

It's overplayed but Fairytale of New York is still brilliant.

A mate at work asked "what's the name of Slade's Christmas song? The actual title. And several of us couldn't remember! Weird but it's one of those that you don't think of the title really.

Oh dear. I think it's embarrassing that people have to get all bent out of shape about an innocent remark. It's puritanical PC bollocks and should be kicked swiftly in the balls ;)

Can't even be bloody racist anymore, either! Madness I tell thee!

I've always like Fairytale of New York but it does suffer from being overplayed.

For anyone with Spotify - I recommend the BBC 6 Music's Alternative Christmas Playlist. Some awesome songs on there - I love The Futureheads - Christmas Was Better in the 80's.

Will defo check that out.

Predictable rubbish from Outraged of Finchfield.

You're still upset about cyclists not being crowned monarch of the road aren't you?

I have a CD called "A Rock & Roll Christmas" which has loads of 60s Christmas songs, which is better than 90% of the crap you hear every year.

at least they had the decency to put the Low track on there.

Just thought of my other two faves:

Rocking Around The Christmas Tree
Jingle Bell Rock

The Slade song is still the best one.

I think Rocking Around the Christmas Tree might be my fav. In Home Alone which is about as Christmas-y as it gets for me.

Come on! Bear has a history of casual sexism and demeaning attitudes to women, so I'm perfectly entitled to call him out on that kind of rubbish.

Step Into Christmas, Elton John is a party fav of mine.

December Song, George Michael.

My 2 faves have always been Fairytale of New York and Driving Home for Christmas. They both bring back happy Christmas memories from when I was a kid.

I love most Christmas songs though, even the terrible ones.

Feliz navidad was on the radio this morning on the way to work. 3 minutes of the laziest song ever wrote! If you have never heard it. Don't bother as it's a waste of a good 3 minutes!!

Well yes, and don't think for a minute I would defend those attitudes (I guess there is a reason he's single). It was just a daft comment and one with a fair basis in truth (the organisation not the masculinity bit).

Anyway, thanks for the list Langers. I like the Eels track.

As soon as you hear Rea singing "Soon there'll be a three-way" you can never unhear it.

Wow, way to massively over-react and generalise someone you don't know. Congrats.
