The Advice Thread

I'd wait for the new version, the Kamiq RZ.

Doesn't have a steering wheel though.

Ahhhhhh. Took me a minute.

I've hired a Skoda a couple of times and can't think of anything bad to say about them. Skoda, SEAT and VW are mostly the same guts, anyway.

Anyone had any experience with a plugin hybrid? Thinking of changing the car

Most journeys we do are 5-10 miles round trip, occasional longer jaunt and then holidays / camping trips away.

It'll need to be a big car, I've been looking at the mitsubishi phev and VW Passat so far.

I also have solar panels at home so it feels like a bit of a no brainer

Managed to drop a wine glass while doing the washing up (think my days of fielding at slip for England might be over). Got half a hand on it as it was falling so only broke the stem off and a reasonably clean break.

What's the best glue I can get to stick it back on? Obviously don't want a massive huge tube of stuff, I'll never use it.

(I can't find the Big Train glue video either)

You can get special glass super glue, but that probably costs way more than a new glass.

Yeah, that's the thing. I'm not that attached to the glass itself but if I can get something that'll do the job for a couple of quid I'll fix it. If not, I'll buy some new ones.

If you’ve got some super glue in the drawer have a go with that, can’t see glass super glue being that different. In fact any old glue, apart from wood adhesive, might be worth trying before you bin it.

I bought some Bostik super glue from the local Co-op last week and it's as strong as fuck. Nearly glued my fingers together in just a few seconds a couple of times.

I've used Loctite stuff before (though it was the gel based version) and it seemed OK if not brilliant.

Still reckon you’d get a new wine glass for the less than £2.

Fwiw my Dad (worked for forever at Evostick) reckoned all superglue regardless of brand is pretty much the same.

Hey, this could be the closest I ever get to DIY :D

Seems they also do 12 for £4.50. The delivery is nearly as much :icon_lol:

Get down home bargain, I reckon you could get glue sub £1 there. Probably a wine glass for less that 50p too for when you have to smash the old one after glueing your fingers to it :)

I could get plastic ones, might be safer for me in my old age.

Or do a BFS and start having a pint of wine.

As with others - day to day use then the charity shop is the way to go (won't always get a full set of 6, but 4 is possible for very little cost) - no more expensive that cheap new ones (or glue) & much better quality normally.

We've started using wine tumblers. Em's brother bought us a carafe and glass set. It's very continental. My point is, you don't have to drink wine from a wine glass.

This is what we use:

Yeah, I've got some crystal wine tumblers. They came with an order I had from Avery's a few months ago.

Whether you should trust me with crystal is another matter.
