The Advice Thread

Got the skull shaver and to be honest it’s ace. Takes about four minutes to take two days worth of growth right off, not as close as an against-the-grain wet shave but it’s more than good enough for me, head still looks completely bald. Minimum razor burn as well and cleans really easy. The beard’s here to stay! Just need to blend my sideys in a bit better now.

Anyone on here using blue light filtering glasses?

I've started noticing my eyes are red and sore, and look grey around the area. I spend ~8hrs a day staring at a screen plus phone/tablet/TV in the evening.
I have been getting good sleep this week and haven't been drinking and I look wrecked.

I'm thinking it's an issue with blue light from my laptop screen and I know there are glasses out there to combat the effects. Anyone tried them or have any thoughts?

I use 'night mode' on all my devices (laptop and PC screens included). Comes on automatically at sunset.

Does your laptop have a blue filter mode? Might be easier?

Its standard in Windows 10 I think:

My Chromebook has it too (and that is pretty ancient)

Well shit, not gonna lie, I hadnt even checked the Display settings tbh.
Total amateur hour from me.

Just set up the night light on my laptop, hopefully that will resolve the issue. Thanks both!

You can just shove the night light toggle button into the notifications box.

Does anyone on here know anything about dropshipping? Any pointers on pitfalls/getting started etc.? (y)

I believe it is illegal in several states of the US.
Probably the ones where you can still marry your sister. :) Fortunately, I live in the UK, where it isn't (although there's a lot of dodgy stuff goes on on eBay that's probably is). That said, I've done a bit more research and, tbh, it seems like a lot of hassle for little reward. I'm thinking now that affiliate marketing might be the way to go for some passive income. So now I'm looking for a good web-hosting deal, if anyone can recommend one.

The dial has fallen off on my boiler, and while it'll slot back in (sort of), turning it makes no impact now. So I can't switch the heating off now unless I totally shut the whole thing off, which isn't ideal, because I need it for hot water and the oven too.

Is this an easy enough fix? The replacement part is only about a fiver so that's not an issue, it's I don't trust me to do it...

Worcester 24cdi if that makes any difference.

Don't they just slot on? Worth buying it and trying - worse case you've already got the correct part for someone else to fit.

It'll slot in but it won't clip on to whatever it's supposed to, if that makes sense.

Yeah, I can't see owt. I mean it should be simple, but you cannot overestimate my inability here.

I read a review of the part on Amazon saying make sure you order the correct part as they have different "stem" lengths. As seen in the manual picture here.

You could try pulling off the other knobs to see if one of those will work as a temporary fix, or to identify if you have the exact correct part.

I don't think breaking it more is the answer!

It looks like the knobs pull off and push back on. At least that way you'll know if you have the right one, or if the stem is too short to activate the mechanism.
