The 1-2 Crying Game Verdict thread

Ikeme in having lead boots and failing to move his feet and get off the ground to complete a simple task shocker.

Seriously don't know what the issues are. It must be deep rooted. There is no way every manager can make the same mistakes

Have to say I think Birmingham were fairly comfortable with ten men and our goal was was almost against the run of play. After that they retreated a bit more to be expected but we had no real thrust or guile to break them down.

Edwards is like some sort of perverse luxury, his purple patch this season gave him his place on some semblance of merit but normally he's played in some misplaced hope that he'll pop up with a goal whilst contributing absolutely fuck all else. His goal return isn't good enough to be starting and playing for ninety minutes, he's now gone 5 without a goal and based on his record it's far from inconceivable he won't score again this season. I know I'm preaching to the choir on this but it's so fucking infuriating listening to some cunt 'expert' saying how he's the best in the league for arriving late in the box and headed goals as if he's the second coming of Lampard. Just fuck the fuck off.

Happy for Dicko getting his goal. Should've maybe scored the header earlier too but hopefully he'll settle now and find a few more.

Said it on the thread but Bod isn't a target man, lazy bullshit journalism and futile football assuming being tall equates to target man. I don't really recall him touching the ball second half.

The whole mentality of this club is damaged and backward. There has to be change. When Fosun took charge they needed a clean sweep of all staff. On the commercial side they're achieving this with the departures of Moxey, Skirrow and O'Rearden the same has to happen with Edwards, Daley, Mountain, and crucially Thelwell.

Wolves innit

I think you're a bunch of moaning bastards. We were easily the better team tonight. But for ikeme's blunder and a jammy bounce to davies, (who we know is generally fucking useless) we'd have won the game.
Get off the player's backs, get off the manager's back, get off your high horses and get off your fucking xbox's. I'm out of here.

EP I wouldn't disagree with what you say about Batth, but would add what a liability he is in the oppositions box for set pieces. He either gives a foul or the ball bounces off his 50p head. For a team that seems to have decided we are going to play the percentages and win free kicks and corners around the box he's not what we need.

On Weimann he's been poor in every game since Anfield and stops tracking his runner. What he did with Davis for the goal today he did numerous times with Willian was Moses last week. I'd shove Dicko on the left next week, given our lack of options there.

Surely he has to give saiss a chance soon? The number of times our midfield had to take a touch on simple square balls before passing sideways or backwards was ridiculous for professional players in a decent pitch. We're crying out for someone who can play a hard pass over distance to one of our players quickly. Price is the only one in midfield who even tries to move the ball productively and he can't do everything on his own - most of our shower don't even move properly.

Yes I agree regarding Batth's attacking play, he regularly gets in good positions in the opposing box, but as you say he either fouls or heads over. Poor.

It's astonishing how much of the ball he gets, perhaps it's a tactic from other teams to let him have the ball, and generally i think his passing is poor, but today he picked out Costa well a few times.

The fact that none of our subs warmed up for the last 30 mins showed Lambert had no intent in changing it for a final push.

As if Lambert thinks we dominated tonight and all we have to do is be more clinical. Like i said earlier you can't keep sacking managers but you simply have to if they haven't got a clue. The middle period of his time in charge so far i was starting to believe but he's completely gone away from that in the last month or so and we now look worse than we did under Zenga and he's spouting more and more shite. I'd love to know what the actual set up is and what the plan is because whatever plan those at the club have got it's fucking awful.

Of our starting 11, Costa is the only one I'd be disappointed if they weren't with the club at the start of next season. Ironically he's probably the one who won't be.

Someone like Kevin McDonald!

Terrible team selection and 'tactics', as many said in the Matchday Thread.

Birmingham, Burton, Wigan...they are not Liverpool or Chelsea. You cannot play the same way. Dreadful management.

DW's blog sums it up for me pretty much, all graft and zero craft. What does Doc have to do to get dropped? He was appalling tonight, and on the other side Coady demonstrated that he is nothing more than a stop gap at RB, you cant tell me Iorfa would have been worse than that or Marshal?

Apparently CBJ doesn't work hard enough in training, well Doc doesn't work hard enough in a game so can we at least give the lad another chance he cant be any worse.

We seem to only be able to counter attack, anything else and we are screwed. Lambert has to sort this mess out fast, and ditch the loyalty....Doc, Coady, Saville, Edwards should all be dropped. I also want to see Hause and Williamson at CB for the next game, there is no reason not to do that now.

I think it is time to give 4-4-2 a try with Bod and Dicko up top we do look a threat, Saiss & Price will be more than good enough to hold the fort in the middle of the part and then we can play 2 wingers.

Love the Scooby Doo line (that will be heard in Rugby very soon), but this sentence was the one that chimed most with me - "We simply must start playing more football or we’re in real trouble, there’s no excuse for this style as it isn’t even effective."

Booting the ball long is more akin to old-school rugby than modern football. Can't really understand why any manager would choose a tactic that invariably means you just hand the ball straight to the opposition - all a bit reminiscent of John Beck.

Paul Lambert hasn't progressed the way football has, simple as that.. You need to adapt and follow when the game developes..

One of the commentators said last night that Wolves needed to be brave - this needs to apply to the remainder of the season too. Play short, not long. Play promise, not proven failure. Play to win, not to not lose.
