Sunderland (H) 9/12 Build-Up

Would we dare play Cav at RWB if we had to? Depends on the opposition I guess. Burton at home yes, Cardiff away no.

Is Doherty injured?

His cover is obviously. While German Phil recovers I guess we need to consider the alternatives just in case Doherty was injured or suspended. The paucity of those options makes it clear as a place for January transfer action.

Sunderland have a few injuries, and reading their forum I think they are expecting a cricket score. This is a game we should win comfortably, but I hope we do not take it for granted that we will win.

Judging by Nuno's reaction to the second half I don't think the players will have the chance to take anything for granted!

7 wins on the run at this point would be brilliant. Everyweek someone else is dropping points.

Nuno takes nothing for granted and his professionalism is fantastic. If any of the players get complacent, they won't stay in the side. There are a lot of good players unable to get in the side at the moment.

Amazingly Sunderland might actually send out a worse central midfield than Blues' Kieftenbeld/N'Doye/FakeJota/Gleeson dream team from last night. Cattermole and Gibson FFS.

I despised Darron Gibson when he was here. He's now fat and bald as well as shit.

Gibson was amazing for about six-twelve months at Everton when he first joined them. Then got injured and reverted to norm.

Oh god. Cattermole on Jota.

Amazing in that he showed an ounce of fight? He was a gutless coward here. And we paired him with Seyi from time to time, which was just lovely. Thanks Mick.

Would you believe that his season with us still represents the second most league appearances he's made in any season in English football. Even then he only played 21 games.

Chatting to a Sunderland fan up here, his biggest issue with Cattermole is that he no longer puts up a fight (famous last words), he's routinely not closing people down and then hiding from the ball when Sunderland have it.

Id have Vinagre and Neves in the team for this one...nice to change it up a bit.
Sunderland are far better away from home and Grabban's 11 goals from 34 shots is impressive for their position.

Think this might be a 4-2 / 5-3 sort of match.

Oh yeah, on another note

(i read this on the Sunderland board and hadnt heard about it anywhere else)

"At the Wolves home game against Sunderland there will be a collection for the homeless. They are looking for every fan to bring just one item each:

A tin of food
Pair of socks
Undies
Shower gel
Deodorant
Pot noodle
Shaving foam
Razors
Baby wipes
Cereal
Jam
Colouring books
Selection boxes

There will be a collection point outside each stand.

Would be great if everyone could take something and support this"

It may well be that some people's opinion is that Vinagre is a better defender than Douglas, although Douglas played well against the B'ham wingers, IMO. However, I feel that Douglas is far superior at set piece delivery which has led directly to several goals and should therefore mean his continued selection.

Neves selection is a no-brainer for me, I just hope everyone else is fit following the match against B'ham.

Douglas won't be dropped. Sunderland have been appalling at defending set pieces so Douglas could be setting up a lot of chances on Saturday.

I would play Miranda instead of Bennett. Not because Bennett has done anything wrong, he does deserve his place but just to have a bit of extra passing ability from the back when faced with the 2 solid banks Sunderland will park. Neves in for Alf is a no brainer
