Sunderland (H) 9/12 Build-Up

Pretty much same as everyone else I would just go Neves for Alf, I don't think the combination of Saiss and Alf worked that well and Saiss is not getting dropped any time soon.

I do worry about Jota at some point receiving a Zyro like challenge, forgetting the result of any game he needs to be protected better.

Cattermole can fuck the fuck off.

Sunderland defender expects Sunderland to return home with all 3 points...

http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sp...aders_Wolves__39__claims_Black_Cats_defender/

Bit misleading there, Darlo :icon_lol:

He didn’t really say he expects them to return with 3 points. In fact, he said what most footballers would say in their position “it’ll be a hard game, we need to turn it around ourselves etc”.

It probably wouldn’t go down very well if he said “Wolves are too good for us so we’re going there with no hope”.

I do like the photo caption 'Sunderland's Adam Matthews runs with the ball at Preston' underneath the most self explanatory photo ever :)

Not too misleading...
"Matthews said: “We’re going there expecting to get the three points. In the position we’re in most people will think it’s an easy game for Wolves but we know the character we’ve got in the changing room and going off the Burton performance and some of the Reading performance we’re confident we can get a result." but yes, it wouldn't go down too well if he gave his best Private Frazer impersonation of "We're dooomed!" :icon_lol:

Only about 700 seats left for home supporters. Not sure how many Sunderland bring but it could be 30k plus on Saturday

Think they've sold about 1,300. Normally they sell out or get very close to doing so but cannot blame people for staying away in their current state.

BBC currently forecasting heavy snow throughout Friday and Saturday here. Wouldn't have thought it'll put the game in any doubt but it could affect travel plans.

They were at about 1300 yesterday.

Looks like it could be quite snowy this weekend, hopefully this doesn't get called off!

Pitch will be fine but if its heavy as some are suggesting (not the Express obvs) then it could be called off on safety grounds for the fans, which has been done before. With the forecast of snow pretty much all day tomorrow and heavy on Saturday morning I would say it is a 60/40 chance it will go ahead

Not convinced the snow will be that heavy personally (just to jinx it!)

Was it West Ham who called it off last minute, rather suspiciously when they had a large injury list, only for us to hammer them in the re-arranged fixtures?

Yep.

Yes they did. But as you say, we won anyway. Probably our best away performance in the PL under Mick. Even Zubar looked ok.

Albion also cancelled the BCD in Dec 2010 and by the time we played the game they'd sacked Di Matteo. Still should have won though, poxy last minute goal after Hennessey fumbled a free kick. Think it was the only thing Carlos Vela did for them.

Referencing our game on Monday (when we were missing arguably our best, and the division's best player):

Exactly they started well and faded. Brum should have got something.

Where in the blue hell is this narrative coming from? I have never, not once, seen a team previously have absolutely no shots on goal and not even an off target attempt which came vaguely close, and then for people to say that they deserved something.

Yeah but they won a few tackles in midfield.

My first match since my blood cancer diagnosis.

I've not had a particularly good week but am looking forward to sitting in the Billy Wright in below freezing temperatures watching a few goals.

I'm going with a mate who I always used to go with in the late 70's / early 80's.....so its our first match together for about 35 years!
Hope the snow doesn't get too bad otherwise I'm staying with my Mum in Pattingham for the night!

Good luck pal! My aunty has Myeloma. Rough during treatment, doing OK now.

It will snaaar on sarradeeee and your fancy forriners such as ruddy, coady and Douglas will freeze their knackers. Our hardy set of northerners will be out in only their t-shirts.
