Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Really we should have spent the Guedes money on a wide player who could also do a decent job through the middle if needed?
I think he probably can in the kind of role that Jota played in the second half of 2019/20. But we don't play that any more.

He's a crap option as a #9 in a 4-3-3, doesn't have anything you need.

Gone from we aren’t signing anyone, sort it out Jeff, to I don’t want to sign him, sort it out Jeff

To be fair it's a redux of a couple of months ago. People saying we should sign Benteke or Micky Batshit and others countering with they'd rather have nothing, because they're awful and cost money.

I've actually enjoyed it myself. Seeing people on twitter who have fervently argued that Bruno needs a striker for us to score goals doing a complete 180 degree to we have good enough options because of the threat of big Andy Carroll.
At no point has that been said has it. Andy Carroll is NOT a solution does not equal our options are good enough. But you know that don't you?

I’m not really sure on what world it makes sense to decline a work permit for someone who is going to generate upward of £1m of tax revenue on salary alone.

Yes it has been said. If I could be bothered to trawl twitter I'd provide evidence but I can't.

The manager said wants someone different to Raul. Nowhere does it say he wants a lump.

Look, we have British workers who can do jobs just as well as foreign nationals can, and they have to take priority. That's just common sense and what the public want.

I mean look right here at the list of English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish out-and-out strikers who have won 2 Premier League titles and are still playing, and er....will you excuse me, I just need to take this urgent call.

Well, we signed a 6 foot 7 giant. Now are looking at Costa or Carroll. He doesn't really need to say it.
The "lump" is very much a TWF description of what Bruno has been saying. Something I am guilty of over doing at times on here for no other reason than boredom.

Now if we signed a Kiefer Moore or indeed Andy Carroll then yes, he is after a lump. I think calling Sasa a lump is a bit lazy and might as well be followed up with "good touch for a big man" and I certainly wouldn't call Costa a lump forward...many other things, such as a bastard but not a lump.
There is nothing wrong with wanting an alternative option up front, infact we have been crying out for that since promotion and generally failed to do so if we did sign a different forward, carried on playing a style that they didn't fit into.
Did we spend 45 mins lumping the ball at Sasa's head as our only tactic on Saturday? (serious question, didn't see the game)

The Carroll link, is at best very flimsy if you read the article as well

Costa isn't tall, Carroll is just a rumour, and Sasa is actually a good footballer as well as tall.

Not really. A couple of aimless hoofs in his vague direction (he didn't win them). Generally we didn't get him into the action very much at all, it was a game where very little happened at either end. I know, under Bruno Lage, imagine.

Any long ball up to him and they generally had both CBs teaming up on him to win it.

So initial start the idea wasn't to Tony Pulis it at the big man then. A small plus then.

Indeed, makes you wonder what type of forward he was after if he's not going to cross to a player of which nearly 50% of his goals have been with his head.

He's just not a very good manager. Plenty of managers don't play with target men, makes you wonder why this one can't be without one

He would have had a goal from a good ball into the box where he was covering the near post (something Raul wasn't doing for whatever reasons) if Podence hadn't cheekily/scuffed Nunes ball in.. Denied the chance to score whilst playing a torn ACL as well.

Won't know now what his long terms plans were as if this forum is correct, he will return to playing and Lage will be elsewhere

Raul's not looked a particular goal threat since he came back from injury. It might actually work in our favour. It may encourage some of the others like Neto, Podence, Traore, Hwang to gamble and get into the box and onto the end of things (he hopes).
No problems only opportunities :)
