Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Is it not possible to recall Silva?
Pardon my ignorance, but can anyone explain how Anderlecht play that is enabling Silva to score like this?
If he can do this at Anderlecht, is it such a stretch that we could adapt that style of play to let him score like that for us?
Is it a big gap in style, or are we coming back to a Lage deficiency?

So Rayo offered Costa €1m salary. So at least we know wages shouldn't be an issue for us.

He's not played football for 8 months, so even if he has something which I doubt he does then you are looking at October before you can use him. Sounds like a favour to Mendes, time will tell how big of one.
Sounds a bit like time we had Gazza down for a few days in 03ish, remember talking to Keith Andrews at the time (two of us locked in the emerald), said his touch and skill would take your breath but couldn't run to the end of the car park

Assuming he signs, it'll be interesting to see if he starts at Liverpool.

Surely this guy is absolutely cooked by now, but for 15-20 mins a gam this could be absolutely hilarious/ petrifying.

No chance he’s capable of 90 minutes these days

Is he widely regarded as unfit and finished, then?

There's something really exciting about us having a proven thug and a bully and a proven goalscorer in the penalty box (playing for us!)
Doesn't need to be fast, certainly doesn't need to have any defensive qualities, just the thought that he'll tap ankles, grab a defenders bollocks in that mad press at corners, just some one who doesn't really give a fuck for the niceties, someone who can intimidate a defender, a bit of a bully, doesn't have to be likeable or respected like Jimenez, just some unshaven fucker who'll sit in the corner of the changing room growling at every fucker who looks at him..... Loving all those images.
I can see Lage rising to the top of his Tactics book, and telling Costa, "to stand on the penalty spot, don't fucking move until the ball comes towards you then put it in the net"
"We'll give you 1 million pounds for every goal you score, you cocksucker, now get out there...!"
Get him in.

I don’t know. Just looked on his Insta and in May he looked very trim. There’sa big difference between keeping in shape and being match fit though, and then being able to lead the line in the Premier League for an hour and change is a different matter altogether

Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited. Am also skeptical

Showed a video of a gym at his house 1/2 hr ago on IG. I'm guessing he's kept himself in some sort of shape. As WH says it's the type of striker we need for that last 30 mins of a game. Give the opposing defenders the shits..

He's 33 not 36 (referring to the Gazza comparison). He's obviously wound down over the past couple of years but can't see what damage it will do to us.

Are we going to score less than zero goals in a game while he's on the pitch?

Think the last sentence sums my feelings too. But he is a thoroughly nasty bloke to play against and will hassle, rub defenders up the wrong way and battle, and all of those are attributes we need/are currently missing.

I enjoyed writing all that!
But it'd be well worth our while, incentivising all our guys, "Anyone who scores a goal gets half a million quid for every goal you score!" Our record so far is shite. Our attempts are shite. So stop this 'U' shape of passing sideways, pass forwards and fire.
Half a million if it goes in...

I think we really do need some more experienced voices/ leaders in the dressing room, and someone to. really get the crowd going on the pitch

He's always been lauded for being a complete teammate. He's a serial winner, it'll have benefit.even if he doesn't have a huge impact on the pitch. I'm hoping we can utilise him in the right way and present him with chances as if we do he'll grab a few goals.

Him and Adama are players that the opposition will have to have a plan for. That in itself is a good thing. I just think it will be a no brainer to bring him in. It'll be a real cheap option and it'll take the pressure off Raul.
