Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Perhaps an additional versatile player who could cover both CM and FB would make sense. A Marcel type signing. What’s Phil Neville up to these days?
We don’t need a full back. We don’t need another midfielder. We do need a striker. Otherwise, belting idea.

Marçal made me absolutely rage. The ultimate black hole of possession.

I don't want players like that 'just in case', they cost money and take resources away from elsewhere. And they're shit.

Yes, I'd love a fully stocked 24-25 man squad of seasoned pros who are all top half Premier League players at minimum. Not going to happen though is it.

Marcal was nowhere near as bad as some made out, though why he was selected ahead of RAN at the end of the season is a complete mystery. Currently if Cundle goes on loan and Ronan leaves the drop off from Donk to Hodge is huge. Equally the drop from three FB to whoever is next in line is big. A cheap squad player to cover both makes sense, if we can find one.

But why would a cheap squad player be any better than Bueno or Toti at LB?

It’s certainly a conundrum if we play 4-3-3. Donk isn’t good enough to really replace any of the 3 and Joao is getting on.

Vitinha was the player we needed for this and Lage doesn’t trust Cundle/ Ronan.

Having said that Lage has lined up 4-2-3-1 and may stick to that which means we only have Pod as a 10/ second striker.

He was fucking shit.

'Cheap squad players' don't exist.

Kouyaté will be on north of £40k a week at Forest. I don't want to pay that for someone who's crap and won't play, it's ridiculous.

That's 1 PL place. It's nothing in the grand scheme of things. Worth the insurance imo given the alternatives if 433 is how he wants to play. If It's 4231 then we are fine, but means more Podence - I won't see out the season

Also, I'm not even sure you want that mentality at the club.

'Hi. You'll pretty much never play because we have several players who are miles better than you but would you like a load of money to sit on our bench as our fans have kittens about the squad contracting Ebola or something?'

'Sure, sounds great'

I think all anyone is really looking for is a chiquinho / Mosquera type of player (in terms of development) but for midfield.
Jordao must be either a wrong 'un or really shit, because on the face of things he'd be perfect, but Lage isn't having him
