Summer 2022 Transfer Window

I am going to imagine you'd take less salary given his career if he'd like to return home or finish there, although the fact he wanted 2 years indicates he doesn't think this is his last year.

Get the impression that his family circumstances will be the defining factor with him. Family seem happy here, kids vital stages at school etc.

That's promising then. I saw the video (may have been posted on here) of him and his wife dancing on holiday and he didn't seem like his contract situation was bothering him at all!

Surprised they even bothered announcing it.

I think he’ll go on to be a very good player but his situation is different to the Vitinha one in terms of money. His wages are more than anyone we have and he’d cost £25m. So we’ve just given him some game time to develop him for a different club. And it’s still cost us a bit.

Assuming we covered his wages then double digit millions if the loan fee without signing was the reported £6m. At least we got some of that back with the money Barcelona gave us for Adama...

He didn't show anywhere near enough in his time at the club. You can't be signing players on a just in case basis, based on Vitinha and in any case there is no way we could justify 25m on him with the way we are set up in the window.

Still won't stop Del going apoplectic in 12 months time when he signs somewhere for megabucks :)

Really, really odd. So assuming the 20% sell on fee is more than £5.1m, we’re laughing. Question is, will they eventually get more than £25m for him? Doubt it.

Can’t say I’m too disappointed that the man with a heart the size of a pea hasn’t been signed. Undoubtedly a talent is in there, but I don’t think he’s suited to the PL. Certainly not for a club like us - very much a luxury player that we can’t afford both financially and on the pitch.

He's a bottling, no product, no pace shitebag. Wouldn't have taken him for £5m.

The current rumour is that he's going to Sporting on loan. If he does really well there then he could easily be going for £25M+ in a year or 2.

You think our agreement will be based on when they sell him rather than it just being this Summer? It'll be time bound and we'll be played again, because, well we know why

They'll easily get 25m plus.

Would you have signed him then?

On the balance of what we saw vs what I saw of him before and his potential probably not but it's a tough one. I think he's not really suited to the English game but more importantly, our style of play. I could easily see someone like PSG picking him up for big money if he has a good year in Portugal as I expect he will.

It's not like deciding whether to sign trincao was even a football decision. I just don't see us spending £25m on a player these days

Fwiw, I think he has a lot of potential and will probably be a success sooner or later. We, however, can't be spending this kind of money on potential
