Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Listen , I'm not going to get pedantic over where we were in Div 4 way back then , but we were definitely very close to the bottom of the table at one point ( might have been after a few weeks of a new season ) . Maybe the historians here can confirm .
That was the reason I chose them .
I accept your argument re accepting lower standards . That's a fair point . However trying to move from say 7th to 5th/4th is not easy . It will take a lot of investment , time and money . I'm therefore willing to wait if the club genuinely want us to reach top 6 and stay there and are taking a long term approach . I've been watching Wolves a long time , I can wait a little longer .
I think you misunderstand why people are frustrated because in the majority of instances I don't believe it's about finishing higher up the league. Speaking for myself:

It's being lied to about FFP and other teams season ticket prices amongst other things

It's being the only club in the PL to increase prices 4 attendance years in a row and having the highest starting priced tickets behind the goals in the PL outside the Top 6.

It's the talk of generational talents and spending £35m on a project when there were areas of the team which needed and still need addressing.

It's sell to buy when that doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

It's the prioritisation of Brand growth on other activities which are miniscule in terms of revenue compared to on the pitch success.

It's signing players for none footballing reasons and having to watch them not be able to control a ball.

It's employing a manager without a proper search because he was either an easy option/Mendes plant/yes man or any combination of.

It's surrounding yourself with sycophants most of whom don't have the required experience rather than experts in their field.

It's appearing to be complacent about how easy it is to remain in the PL.

It's a number of consecutive transfer windows where - and I'm being generous we have failed to land our targets

It's not redeveloping the ground because the payback in doing so is long not short-term.

I would imagine some of those reasons will resonate with other posters who'll have their own alternatives to add, but very few will say they have problems with the way we are run because we haven't finished in the Top 4. Wait and see is fine and perhaps this year will be different, the last month or so and precedent would suggest otherwise though

This is the main one for me. If we lose premier league status, which basing it on post Christmas you’d think is a possibility, the brand is worthless. We’re not man United, who have worldwide appeal (we’re bigger in Mexico, lols) to gain that you have success.

I would’ve thought prioritise the team, try and break the monopoly of the top 6, even a couple of cup wins would be paramount in building a ‘brand’

Everton confirm Tarkowski. Utd, Brentford and Fulham all have a player on the brink. Leaves us with Leicester and Chelsea in the nobody obviously close camp

Chelsea are pretty much nailed on to sign Sterling and they're also in for De Ligt. There is still fuck all news where we are concerned.

Latest Wolves Grasshoppers link is Alexis Castillo Manyoma, 19yo Colombian midfielder from Cortuluá.

While our apparent lack of activity on the transfer front is actually really starting to get on my fucking nerves, I can’t believe for a second we’ll go through the whole window and not strengthen where we need to just because we haven’t sold Neves. If that does happen I’ll be way too pissed off to care about looking even more stupid than normal.

We finally bought a house and it went through Wednesday, it took 12 years from when we started saving for the deposit to actually completing and getting the keys.

So let's play a little Under/Over game - Will Wolves next first team signing happen in UNDER 12 year or OVER 12 years!?

Porto obviously has the sentimental pull, but assuming the salary websites are correct they could pay as much as Pepe whose their top earner and he wouldn't make in 2 years what he will here in 1.
