Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Poppycock from pretty much first word to last
No it's not , it's simply a view point which all posters are entitled to hold no different to yourself .

You know no more of what's going on behind the scenes right now than the rest of it . Let's wait till the transfer window is over and then let the meltdown begin if no one has been signed .

People might not like FOSUN and I'm not too gone on them myself - but be careful what you wish for .

We need more balanced views here than just poster after poster following each other with the same points .

You can shout me down if you wish , but I'll hold my line until I see what transpires .

Your own post contradicted itself.

"People might not want Lage - but who else will agree to come and manage us - and succeed"

Parking the Lage element as it's not really relevant, why would we struggle to attract another manager? Why wouldn't they succeed?

But you're saying the same thing over and over again without anything to argue against.

I showed you the links to Jeff's long term plan, are you just ignoring them? Are you ignoring our transfer spend? Player turnover? Transfer business and accounts?

And if not what makes you think any of that will change now?

How many windows need to close with no genuine first team signings, no CH, no CM until we can criticise? Not this one, last Jan apparently, nor last summer, nor the Jan or summer before that. Next January?

We also reached a ceiling of the players in the Mendes camp who wanted to come to the club. The players we needed to try and progress were either too expensive or wanted to go to a side with Champions League football on offer.
Our sliding doors moment was bottling it against Sevilla.

I thought it was earlier than that, the home game against Arsenal seemed to me to be the game when oppositions coaches worked out how to negate our style.

Another top Manager , not another Manager . I should have made that clearer .

Lage clearly was hired as he must have cost far less than a Manager still at a club . I clearly don't know his wage packet , or what others would have demanded - that's a guess on my part .

Changing the Manager is always a risk . Of course a new Manager could do really well , but there is little guarantee of that , unless you're dealing with the top Managers .

Conti for instance - I love that fella . He'll fall out with Spurs eventually , but he'll do well there .

To answer your question - I don't think we're willing to pay the top dollar that is required to hire a top Manager . You need top players too and they're hard to convince to come to us , not to mind pay them .

I've no problem with Lage being replaced if that were to happen later on this year , but getting the right replacement is very tricky .

I'm not going to abuse you for having a different opinion to the majority on here. In fact, fair play to you. But I disagree with you. Fosun had no experience of owning a football club, you're correct. They made some idiotic choices at the start (Zenga anyone?), and were spoonfed some world class players which we had no right to have, due to the Mendes connection. We finally fell lucky with Nuno and he, along with the playing staff, were the main reason for the leap and successes in the PL. The alarming sign now is that Jeff Shi and the recruitment team don't appear to have learnt their lessons from mistakes made over the last 2-3 years. They have got rid of Laurie Dalrymple & Kevin Thelwell, not replaced them, and moved others - mainly "yes" men - in to prominent roles when their skillsets appear to suggest otherwise. Arguably we've gone backwards both ON and OFF the pitch. We're charging more than we've ever charged to get inside the ground and on the flip side appear to be doing very little to improve the main part of the "brand" - the fucking first team squad. So this is why you're in a minority and I think you're on a hiding to nothing.

I'm just willing to wait until the window is closed before forming a definite view . Being critical of the owners , the Head Coach , the backroom staff and so on becomes boring to read after a while .
We are where we are - I first started supporting Wolves in 1986 - hence the name , and back then we were rock bottom of Division 4 . I prefer where we are now - I know it's not perfect , but I'll take it for now .

Trincao not coming back and Traore likely to leave if anyone actually offers to buy him. Which we pretty much knew anyway

Have we improved the squad since the second season in the Premier League? On the basis that we have finished 13th and 10th as opposed to 7th and 7th, which is fact, I would say not
I’ve said previously that our squad is weaker than our first season in the prem, however I struggle to see how we would have progressed from 2 consecutive 7th finishes in all honesty.

I am with the majority on here in being disgruntled with Fosun and how they appear to be operating. I don’t think they’re as bad people are saying (I’m not in the fuck off fosun camp’ but I’m very concerned currently about the season

Poor Trincão. He's actually pretty good and we'll probably see him make a big money move in a few years after he does well in Portugal but English football just isn't for him.

Agree. Potentially in an attacking team or one that dominates the ball he’d look a lot better

Can’t think of another player this has happened to in the last year or so…

He'll look decent in a big three side in Portugal but won't be worth a piss to a side in a top league

Your wait and see approach is your personal preference, each to his own. However the 'I was there when we were shit' or 'it's only x years since we were in League 1' which is also bandied around a lot is such a weak argument. You can't judge everything from that prism, otherwise mediocrity will always be acceptable by comparison.

Incidentally we weren't ever rock bottom of Division 4, even when we released Brian Little we were about 11th from memory

Bottling?

A mentally fucked team fell just short against a team that won the Competition. (and lets not forget the penalty Raul had saved should have been retaken but you know, fuck VAR)
This is how we lined up:

  • Dendoncker in midfield
  • Traore over Jota
  • Neto on bench
We capitulated before we'd even kicked a ball with that line-up and I'll always be angry at the missed opportunity. Not to mention the complete lack of substitutes before 70 minutes in a game that desperately need them (even then we only used 2).

I'm far from a Traore defender and blame Nuno for prioritising him over Jota, but he did win the penalty which if we'd scored may have changed everything. I agree after that we didn't really lay a glove on them, but they were a decent team.

Can't criticise in January either because of the World Cup.

Can't criticise next summer because the winter World Cup didn't leave enough time to sign anybody. With the domestic season finishing later.

Top six prices for bottom six investment.
