Summer 2022 Transfer Window

I get it with Jota who we had to convince to come and play against Millwall and Barnsley for at least a year.

Not now we're a top half Premier League team, we should be able to attract players regardless.
And if they come and they flourish they will still leave for one of the elite if they want to, that's just the PL hierarchy

Very few players that are clearly playing at a level above those around them don’t move. Neves is clearly capable of playing in a more successful team but there may be one factor in our favour for keeping him. If you look at the teams above us they are well stocked in central midfield. Man Utd is the exception but they may go for Rice. I suspect Arsenal will be focusing on a striker if they’ve got big money to spend. That leaves abroad and again the options of a big step up are limits so I think he may well stay another season.

Whenever he goes he'll leave a huge, huge gap in our team, I hope Sellars is planning for this already

The concern more so is potentially we could lose both neves and Moutinho this summer. If we did, and didn’t replace (you’d like to think we would, but for the sake of this point) i genuinely think next year could be a real struggle

If you listen to the rhetoric then one of those needs to be Cundle. That's asking a lot

If mout and neves were to go that leaves us a centre midfield of dendoncker (who most seem to despise, I’m not one of those but wouldn’t want to build my midfield around him) and Cundle (who’s looked neat and tidy in relatively minimal game time)

Hopefully neves will give us 1 more year, allowing us to get someone in who in a years time will take over from him. Also with mout that bit older means we don’t have to flog him every week.

I thought that FIFA had said that any players playing in Russia could move without penalty at any time?

David Ornstein has us preparing for a total turnover of our midfield in The Athletic this morning. We're in talks to extend Neves and Moutinho's contracts, but there's a recognition that we may lose one or both of them (intermediaries are mentioned as being looking for a move for Neves), and Matheus Nunes and Joao Palhinha from Sporting are being touted as replacements.

Bruno has also apparently told Jeff about his expectations for recruitment this summer, and his intention to turn us into an attacking, physically-capable team.

"Lage has informed chairman Jeff Shi and the recruitment team at Wolves of the profile of players he wants to bring in this summer as he looks to evolve the team’s style of play into a more attacking, physically capable team which can cope with a higher defensive line and be comfortable playing in multiple formations."

Is the kind of shit I want to hear, but am doubtful at whether we can achieve it in one summer

I'm not emotionally ready to contemplate replacing Joao and Ruben. And from a footballing perspective it's pretty much impossible to imagine that won't be a significant downgrading of talent
Especially if Paulinha is one of the repalcements - unless the other is Kante its not going to be good.
