Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Big question is,
Better or not as good as Ben Bender?

Ben Bender benchmark benamed bench?

ASM is better than Traore. His dribbling is more intellingent and has more end product, rather than kick and run past them 90% of the time.

As said though, we won't be buying him. Newcastle's new owners will offer him some silly contract rise.

They won't because they have no cause to and he isn't good enough for where they want to go.

We won't sign him though and nor should we.

Well they do have a cause to because if they don't he'll leave.

Will he, how? He has four years left on his deal.

And I doubt they'll give much of a shit if he did kick up a fuss as they'll sign better than him regardless.

As above, we should be looking at players we actually stand a chance of signing.

Like, I don't know. Ben Bender, maybe.

We shouldn’t sign him as he’s not stand out better than what we have, and he’d cost probably £30m.

But if there was a hypothetical situation where we couldn swap him for Podence (our current first choice forward) then I think I’d do it.

Err what? Podence is our best wide forward until Neto shows he's over his injury. I'd rather have ASM than Trincao for sure.

I don't really like either. Mr Podence and I aren't ever likely to get on. One of the many reasons our end product doesn't match the build up play, I hate his diving/play acting and needless flicks. Undoubtedly talented, just not for me

I reckon Newcastle would want £50m for him, not £30m. Then a minimum four year deal on at least £80k a week. For someone who might be a bit better than Podence, maybe.

Let me think on that one.

Against Villa he had the opportunity to put some very simple balls through to Create very good opportunities but inexplicably passed it straight to a Villa player. He also managed to mess up the 1v1 before the Jonny goal deciding to let everyone get back rather than just scoring. I really don’t get how he can look a world beater and awful all at the same time!

The Watkins chance comes from him giving the ball away when we should have been getting a shot away. I know we shouldn’t then give up a 1v1 from Young picking up a loose ball and smashing it over the top from halfway inside his own half to the only player ahead of the ball, but that was a real opportunity to kill the game and instead nearly let them back in from sloppy play which stretched us as we didn’t have chance to get the team up the pitch whilst also having 4 ahead of the ball.

I don't know if it's because we are better than at any time since I was at primary school but so many players frustrate the hell out of me now Trincao, Hwang, Podence, RAN, Semedo, Traore as was, even Raul now although that's more circumstance than at the player himself. Nobody I hate like in Hoddle, McGhee or certain McCarthy times but so many just leave me thinking there's a lot more out there, but don't deliver often enough

Just doesn’t make sense. These guys are literally some of the best people at the sport on the entire planet. But we sit watching and can’t work out how they are so shit at times!

I couldn't fathom Adama at all. How can you look like genuinely one of the best players in the world and someone who'd struggle to get a game in League Two all in the same move. Too much for my tiny mind to take in.

Do you not think subconsciously our standards have raised and expectations have raised accordingly, we're messing with the big boys now and I think that's a lot to accept, I do think we try and temper that with being overly critical at times, I mean blaming Podence for the Watkins chance, really ?

Standards have raised and as I said in the previous post we are at the highest level since 1980 when most on here were still youngsters of various ages and others weren't born. I recognise this is the best team and probably time of my Wolves supporting life, but I do think you need to hold them to our current standards and expectations rather than those of the past. I know you weren't saying this, but I've seen it before that we were in League One 8 years ago so be grateful for what we have, which I am, I just don't see it as relevant when judging the current team or performances. Trincao is a much more talented footballer, playing at a higher level and paid accordingly than James Henry for example so I'm not going to hold him to the same level of expectation
