Summer 2022 Transfer Window

We’ll probably offer him 120k a week easy. Could see him taking it with a buy out clause and a gentlemen’s agreement to see him for £50m a year later.

No clue what he’s on now, hasn’t he had another extension since after promotion? If he’s not on near £100k p/w already then I’m even more baffled how our wage bill was £150m on the accounts.

The "I want X or I'm off" in terms of European involvement only really applies at clubs like United, Arsenal and Spurs and the player wants Champions League and nothing else will do, because they definitively belong at that level and they were promised the club would get there/were previously accustomed to always playing there. Think Bale when he left Spurs.

None of that applies with Neves or Wolves.

Maybe it's the difference between me and pro footballers, but as an amateur I hated the level and time of year where you were expected to play midweek games as well as the Saturdays! I always think there must surely be at least some pro's who just hate the midweek stuff too! :D

All sites would suggest £50kpw

So I’ve seen. But they also say Fabio is on 80k!? Which is surely total bullshit or we’ve had our pants down even further than they are already.

He had the original extension in 2018 which I’d say 50k would have been right. But he since had this mystery extension taking him to 2024, so id assume that was an increase in pay on that, unless we gave him a 6 year deal.

This is the most accurate (imo) pre recent extensions

If you are going to break or increase your wage cap - neves is most definitely the type of player to do it for. Performed for the pst 4 and a half years with us. Mid 20s so plenty of sell on value next year if he does go.

It’s fairly low risk IMO. Not like giving a new signing, with no evidence they will settle in the area/team.

If players kicked up a fuss, then personally they’re idiots. They should be wanting to do everything they can to keep a player like neves. Not as if he’s be asking for 200k pw, blowing everyone out the water

They look about right for the most part.

Still doesn’t explain the 50% increase in wage bill which I can’t get my head around.
It's been explained away by there being two lots of end of season bonuses in that accounting period, one of them being the Europa season. And also Nuno & team pay offs.

It still looks on the highside to me tbh

How much bonuses we giving them? Assuming the previous years had bonuses in them too?

Wage bill might have increased by £10m from signings and extensions and thats probably being generous. £10m Nuno pay off (crazy amount of money). Still leaves £25m which is a lot in bonuses considering the one year we were shite!

Yep, he's outgrown us. It's not going to be a Bully doesn't want to move from Norton Canes situation. We don't even pay him that well. He's worth £100k+ per week, not sure we'll give that sort of contract out. He'll leave and he should much as I don't want him to.
 that isn't what i said is it.

I'm saying that for a lot of the clubs Johnny just mentioned he wouldn't be a big fish, and in a lot of instances he wouldn't be a starter, and certainly in Italy, France and Germany he wouldn't be playing in as high profile a league, there are only 5 or 6 clubs that would be a genuinely good move for him, and of course they have to be willing to pay the cash for him. When you look at all those aspects there aren't many (any?) clubs left?

I also think we'll pay him 100k+ a week, that's what we pay Moutinho and did pay Patricio.

Firstly I replied to Johnny not you, so not sure why you are suggesting I did. Secondly we aren't paying Patricio that now and clearly don't want to Moutinho last year.

I’ve said before re neves, he could be settled here, kids in good schools, able to go out and not be hassled aside from the “yam Ruben neves ay ya? My kids love yow” type stuff, who knows?

Because you were agreeing with Johnny who had replied to me, it's pretty obvious.

Footballers in Alderley Edge don't get hassled in their gated communities, neither do they in Chigwell. I doubt it's a scene from Benny Hill for Barcelona players down Las Ramblas.

I think it's more likely than not that he'll go. Not by a huge margin, but still edging that way.

Just he isn't hanging on to see if we play Vitesse Arnhem a couple of times before Christmas before he decides.

He will probably know whether he will be here or not next year already. How the season finishes I don’t think will be to relevant (unless we fall off a cliff Ofcourse)

I also don’t see Fosun being the type to price him out of a move, as they will see it as a good return on investment.

My money would be on him not being here next year. May get one more year if Fosun give him assurances, but can’t see it

Fosun actually think it's important we don't block moves. They said it after we sold Jota and they're alluding to it with Adama now. The idea being that young talent will join us knowing they can hit the big time if they do well.

I'm not convinced by this mindset to say the least.

That mindset only has a certain lifespan IMO. It relies on us consistently unearthing gems, which with the exception of RAN, we haven’t done over the last few windows to replace the certain stars.

All well and good when you’ve got a settled team, which on the whole you’re happy with - but as you start the carousel and sell the established players and replace them
For cut price deals/young lads it’s hard to keep a team at a stable level. Even harder to push on.

I get it with Jota who we had to convince to come and play against Millwall and Barnsley for at least a year.

Not now we're a top half Premier League team, we should be able to attract players regardless.
