Summer 2021 transfer window

Trincao/Guedes wouldn’t surprise me. Better value than in previous summers most likely, Portuguese, from a big La Liga club - they tick all the boxes in a position we need.

I don't know much about Trincao but I know enough about Guedes to not want him.

I saw earlier we've been linked with Ocampos at Sevilla. Scored the winner against us last season.

From the BBC Gossip page.

Sunderland have begun talks with Wolves to sign English on-loan defender Dion Sanderson, 21, for £2m. (Daily Mail)

I wouldn't pay too much attention, Sunderland (recent takeover or not) can't be making those kind of plans when they don't know which division they'll be playing in next season. They look a safe bet for the playoffs at least but that doesn't guarantee anything.

If they're in League One then they have to play by the financing rules in that division so not that wise to spend £2m on a single player, and he probably wouldn't want to stay there anyway.

I expect us to extend his deal, we have done it with Ronan and Giles who have less chance of ever having a proper first team impact here, and he's been on record in the last week as saying he wants to play for Wolves.

He can take over from Kilman in Commentary Bingo as they'll mention every game that he's related to Tessa Sanderson.

I know a few on here feel he'll never be quite enough for where we're aiming but personally I'd like us to hang on to him for a few years yet, provided he's happy and also if we can find him good loan clubs. I'd have thought he will be looking for Championship football next season. It seems to me central defenders on the whole develop later than a lot of positions. If he does progress enough to be Premier league standard it would be great if it was at Wolves.

Ocampos is a very good player, would really like him here with us but doubt it will happen. Contract expires june 2024.

No surprisingly not. He is, however, the absolute best signing we could make. Massive first team upgrade.

I dont get why Ocampos would come, why would he move here from a club that will have Champions League football. Very unlikely

Like most things it’ll be money. We signed Boly, Neves, Semedo and Raul from Champions League clubs so I don’t think it’s the barrier people think it is.

Yeah but Barcelona had financial issues and none of the other 3 were regulars, I doubt Sevilla would struggle to match anything we could offer - I'd be delighted with him but just can't see it.

Doubt Sevilla pay big wages, the La Liga TV deal isn’t as fair as ours so Real and Barca take a bug wedge.

We’re also ahead of them in the money league.

Players will also see it as being in the shop window to move on to City, United, Chelsea etc where they can then make the big bucks.

Sevilla are also a develop to sell club. If they get the right offer they will accept. If we offer Ocampos decent wages, he'll come. The lure of the Premier League will offset the CL.

Exactly. They probably could pay him 100k, but it breaks their model (what are the other big players going to say too? They’d want parity), so they’d rather just take the money and buy someone else.

The issue isn't so much CL via PL as why Wolves? This seasons regression means we are back in the pack in terms of attraction. Would he choose us over West Ham, Everton or Leicester if he had those 4 options for instance?

Well if they don’t want him he can’t go there. If they can’t afford the fee he can’t go there.

Players have been signing for West Ham for ages and they’ve been consistently useles.

Not using Ocampos as a particular example but we may need to lean on a bit of a Mendes shove to help us out to beat competition.

But if player A has between us and Leicester to choose, he probably would go there (if all other things were equal), but that just means we sign player B.
