Summer 2021 transfer window

Might not mean the end of Adama here, we need another wide player anyway, even more so if we do want to start playing 4 at the back more as currently in that system the first choice front 3 are Adama, Podence, Neto leaving nothing else than what's in the 11.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Adama moved on in the summer, but I feel atm it's more forum wishful thinking than a definite.

Depends on what Nuno's plans are for the team and whether he sees Adama's ineffectiveness as a covid blip or terminal

If he doesn't sign a contract he'll be off in the Summer irrespective of what plans Nuno would have for him imo

Regardless of how good the forum thinks he is, or anyone else does, if he doesn’t sign a new contract then he will have to be sold and a replacement sought.

I’d be happy with him staying, we’re not exactly blessed with creative options and regardless how infuriating he is, he’s actually being pretty effective despite the “zero goals, zero assists” stat. Where the infuriation comes though is that he does some absolute crazy stuff and then messes up basic stuff like 5 yard balls, any kind of off the ball run. If he was just plain rubbish people wouldn’t get so annoyed.

On the flip side, if someone was actually willing to give us money for him then I’d let him go, and I’d have to trust the recruitment department to find a replacement.

He can’t forever be that player with the potential to be a world beater. At some point you’ve just got to accept he’s not going to be it.

I don’t understand him and I never will. I don’t get how a player can lack basic fundamentals but at the same time be unplayable in the same 10 second period

Agree depends whether Nuno feels that he can get more end product from him or not - will need a replacement if he goes

He is a somewhat unique player who can do things that others can't, but too much mediocre stuff in between.

Will then depend on what others are prepared to pay & other options available to us. Won't be unhappy if he goes for a fair fee as long as we can replace, and also not that unhappy if he is still here.

I do wonder if he'll be like a reverse Michael Owen, where Owen was ruined by 27/28 Adama will finally get it with only 2 or 3 years left at a decent level.

Michael Owen wasn’t ruined though. He was still pretty good for Newcastle, just never fit. He still had all the ability, just didn’t have the electric pace he had when he was younger, and was let down by his body.

If Adama lost his pace im not even sure what level he’d be playing at. If he was as quick as James Henry who would you rather have in your team?

He wasn't ruined just never fit and had lost his pace. This is why you read what you type before pressing post :ROFLMAO:

Eh? You said ruined? My interpretation of ruined is finished, no good, useless (yours may be different 🤷🏻‍♂️)

He wasn’t ruined, just not world class. He was “pretty good”.

He had two decent seasons 2007-09 (aged 27-29) and then got a move to United on the back of that. He was then mostly available for the entirety of that season and a decent chunk of the second. Man United just signed him to be sub and If the rumours are to be believed he was more interested in horses than actually playing. Then it went downhill injury wise and he was practically finished at 31.

Liverpool fans' perception of him was always that he was never as bothered about playing for them as he was for England (hence why they never took him to their hearts as they did with Fowler, plus he wasn't as much of a local boy I suppose).

He was evidently on the decline as early as 2004, the knee injury at the World Cup really did drop him permanently down another notch and once his England career was definitively over (Capello made his mind up very quickly) I don't think he ever cared again. Still a good footballer but his heart wasn't in it. He only went to Newcastle so he could preserve his national team place, no other reason.

He is a proper oddball. If you live in Madrid then there are better things to do than drive to the airport to buy an English paper (hint for you Mickey, they sell them at kiosks on the street, I've seen it with my own eyes) and spend the evening sat in the dark in a hotel room watching BBC World News on mute.

No dangly bit :D

(It's a cedilla)
In my defense, the average American probably only knows an umlaut by name. Even the accents that pop up all over the place in Mexican Spanish are mostly just called "accents" nebulously.

Oh, I only know because you get them in French and not that I ever use it, but I have got a degree in that as well. Shit language.

I've had a very small go at learning Portuguese but I'm not a big fan.
