Summer 2021 transfer window

Why if cash flow is such an issue and "selling to buy" etc is necessary did we do a staggered payment deal for Jota?

Obviously also why did we spunk 35mill on Silva too.

It doesn't make sense, or something has changed hugely over the last 12 months. But what?

back in for Maitland-Niles?

Probably a hell a lot cheaper than the £20m we offered last summer

I fucking hope not. Terrible there, he's a very good fullback/wingback though.

It'll be Vitinha for £20m

I like him but I can't see it myself. We could have had him for less than that already as the deal was apparently 3m loan, 15m extra to make permanent. Doesn't seem like smart business from an investment agency.

Aren't the majority of deals done that way?

Read about clubs all ove the place who pay for the player over the course of their contract. PSG were talking about Mbappe yesterday and one of their points for rejecting the initial Madrid bid was it was less than they paid and they still owed Monaco money for the transfer

If I remember rightly it was 35mill in one go or 41 over the course of a few years. So as I say, if cash flow is an issue why didn't we take the 35mill cash?

Shi seemed quite pleased with himself that we got the higher fee too, but it looks daft and is contrary to what they are saying now.

Cash flow isn't an issue. We have loans in place to deal with that. Have the club said otherwise?

Not sure on the cash flow thing, so no clue if its an issue. Its an area have little knowledge in, in terms of football financing.

I don't recall the 2 options though. Liverpool owners are a bit odd with money though since they had the VVD and Allison spending spree.

It was definitely spoken of at the time, and why some daft scousers were gloating that they'd only paid 4mill for Jota.

So we have the money to spend, but are choosing to sell players before we buy anyway?

Who did we sell before we bought Ait Nouri? It's a myth that players need to be sold before a purchase. It may be required that sales are required to balance outgoings to a level, of which we have no idea.

Set our budget and that includes expected money coming in from sales rather than in addition to.

We are never going to know the answer really. We can guess and throw around opinions based on info we can see.

Cash flow isn’t going to be an issue. TV money and sponsorship is still a huge part of our “non transfer turnover”, ST Money is only a small part, and that’s been paid anyway!

And as for Transfers, we’re in profit over the last two seasons. They aren’t really paid as cash anyway. Just a series of IOU’s clubs put on their spreadsheets.
