Summer 2021 transfer window

I swear Rui's decline gets worse every couple of hours recently on here.
This. Not just on here as well. I swear because people have seen some stats about his xG or whatever they're imposing this horrific season on him.

He was fine last season really, maybe not as brilliant as he had been the season before but still quality.

He's the best keeper I've ever seen at Wolves and I'd imagine he will be for some time to come. A completely iconic figure for me and I'm gutted to see him leave.

Unless Sa plays at one end of the extremities we'll never know as it's just speculation what Rui would have been like in the PL next year. Nobody can categorically say he was on the decline rather than just had a poor season, along with a number of other members of our squad and manager.

What I struggle to get on board with is the notion that he didn't have a poor season last year. I don't need to see any stats sheets to know that I did

I would classify it was he made mistakes and a couple of really poor errors, he still had some good games and made some great saves in among it all. I wouldn't just put him in the poor season list.

This is the one that really bothers me though. It's 10.25 million with bonuses according to the Athletic, I don't support the only a year left thinking as the reports also say he was happy, the new keeper won't get the benefit of settling in or adjusting to the Prem with anyone due to the positon, if he starts and isn't up to the standard or Ruddy ends up challenging for a starting place then it's going to be grim.

Sa won’t need time to adjust. He’s a professional athlete and goalkeeper. Playing games is what he needs to do.

And to me, it doesn’t really matter how it’s worded or dressed up - Rui let in a number of soft goals last season - goals that he himself would expect to save. His distribution was average. His positioning was average. His command of his area was poor.

As a man, he sounds like a top bloke and it’s nice when these top pros come to the area and leave with nothing but positive things to say - but let’s not kid ourselves and pretend he wasn’t below average last season, a year older and a year closer to the end of a contract.

I’d personally have been happy if he’d stayed, but at the same time, I’m not as sad to see him go as I would be if someone like Neves was sold.

I don't mind Patricio going - he has been a very good goalkeeper for us over the 3 years, last year was easily his worst season - I wouldn't say he made many out and out blunders/errors, but as said by a number of people already he was getting beaten by too many shots that he should be saving, that also continued at the Euros. 33 years old with 1 year left on his deal, the price is a fair deal.

Whether it turns out to be good for us or not depends on Sá - in the games against us he looked good, and he seems to have a good reputation with Olympiacos fans but the Premier League is a different level altogether - if he's good we could have the position sorted for a good few years given his age - if he's crap it will show up very quickly at this level. Like much of this Summer it's a risk - but there comes a point where all teams have a bit of an overhall and we are just going to have to hope they know what they're doing.

I think we will be more than good in the goalie department with Sá and Ruddy..lets move on to a great DM please

Good start from the new E&S reporter for Wolves

"Wolves fans may be familiar with Sa after he started both Europa League round of 16 ties for Olympiacos last year."

Come on kid, some basic research please

I like the fact his profile photo is that of a sulky teenager. Or it's just his reaction to being corrected in the only comment on that piece. It's also made even better by that the person correcting him gets his name completely wrong.

What an idiot...

I think the shots he faces in the prem are going to be different to he has faced in the Greek league for the most part, was more my line of thought. Only played 60 games for them from the looks of it so not like their is a track record of Euro success I imagine?

Generally get to the CL and then drop into the Europa and Last 16/QF's seems their general limit.

He has another 20 odd League appearances for them as well from his loan spell there

'Negativity' and glass half empty takes are definitely tolerated on TWF now more than at any time I can remember.

I'm all for it, people should be able to call it as they see it, but such a cultural 180 does leave a wry smile on my face...
From my experience negative views have always been tolerated here when results are poor. Negative for the sake of being negative not so much…
