Spurs 1-0 Wolves: Verdict Thread

I think Nuno left because he disagreed with the ‘no spend’ policy (if he was sacked it was due to his not accepting it).

Bruno was recruited precisely because of the no spend policy - he’s part of the yes man era along with Sellars.

Now we have changed our approach, the yes men are superfluous to requirements. Sellars is already sidelined. Lage is keeping the seat warm for Poch or Lopetegui or whoever Fosun believe can take us to the next level.

Lage won’t be sacked until his successor becomes available (barring a disastrous run of results). As soon as we sort his successor he will be gone.

We're not getting Pochettino, mate

Not read through the whole thread yet so forgive me if this has already been said (will read through it eventually!).

We all know by now that we have no one at the club currently who can put the ball in the net on a regular basis. I include Raul in that until he proves that he is back to some sort of form - so it’s absolutely imperative that it’s addressed this week in the transfer window.

We’ve essentially thrown the first three games of this season. Today was a marked improvement, but we could still be playing now and be on nil.

Once Lage has a centre forward at his disposal, he can be (and will be) judged fairly.

I don't really care too much as pretty much no one other than obvious joke appointments would do worse than 12 points out of 17 games.

Marco Rose would be good.

I'm inclined to agree. Never really took to Lage. Won't castigate them for his appointment but it's a failed project as far as I can make out.

Nothing you’ve said is wrong but is the absolute best we could manage against Fulham and Leeds 1 point?
Why are so many erasing history from last season?
It was the same manager not getting the best out of what he had?
Has he suddenly changed?
I think its pretty obvious that last season we did not play the way he wants us to play. Throwing those performances, which were clearly shit, in with this season is a bit disingenuous. He is clearly changing the way we play, or trying to. You can't judge this change after 1 game with the new signings. 1 game. Judge whether he can get anything out of them after more than 1 game. Last season is NOT the same, that much must surely be obvious?

Would just like us all to pause our thoughts on Lage and have a little think about that performance from Adama... He seemed to have no pace or desire to do anything.

He's fire and ice. He'd have been perfect for a team like Wimbledon in the late eighties. I'd put him behind a front two and just tell him him to go where he likes and do what he feels like doing.

Neves, Nunes, Moutinho is going to be a seriously good midfield.

RAN looks like a stoner with concentration levels to match.

You’re missing the point giving him a free pass last season is incredibly lenient. He showed numerous tactical deficiencies on numerous occasions they don’t just disappear over night, Leeds at home classic example of not managing a situation. One thing that’s continued and that’s the most important thing and that’s results and lack of goals.

Fuck me. What a shit take. You returning to this forum is worse than the fucking ads.

Erm .. I was being sarcastic. But, all the same I am pleased you got Johnny excited :rolleyes:

I mean, we could easily get someone in to stick 5 defenders at the back again, barely getting out of our own half, never mind barely scoring like Nuno used to. And we might nick a few points from set-pieces or 0-0 draws.

But I'd rather stick with Lage than have my eyes bleeding and being laughed at by the majority of the league for the way we set-up and play.

If we get in any real trouble with relegation a bit further down the line than 3 games in then I'm sure Jeff will act quickly enough.

Have I missed something? What makes people think we have changed our approach so significantly?

We have spent money this summer but have still in effect swapped MGW for Nunes, and Collins is presumably the year's profits. Our signings have been positive this summer but still not enough there to make me think we have dramatically changed our approach. Even Ashley's Newcastle sometimes spent money when it seemed like being shit would endanger Prem status.
