Spurs 1-0 Wolves: Verdict Thread

I get that argument I do but it is a new formation and style.

It took Potter a while too, if it's still the same at the International break I'll be in the same boat as you.

The positives are we do look really good in possession, defending and in transition. We have a 4-1-4-1 feel to us when the first XI is out there.

He should be getting an attack coach in as he clearly can't do it.

I've zero confidence in him, we do look good in possession but you'd expect that considering how much quality we have on the ball, both centre halves are excellent on the ball and that midfield 3 is as good as anything in the league bar City maybe.

Thing is we weren't bad, like we weren't bad against Leeds. But equally I can't complain that we lost either game.

He just isn't very good. Miles out of his depth.

Maybe it's just me, but this verdict does feel a bit negative. We've gone away to one of the best teams in the league, controlled the first half and lost to a goal from some movement of one of the best strikers in the world.

We need to create more, and I think having a proper striker helps with that.

He'll go fairly soon, it's just unsustainable. Once again worse when we made changes.

Some good football first half with limited threat and then rubbish second half. Opposition keeper has done nothing all game. Same as last week.
I think this shoot the manager ethos is wearing thin for me. We were far superior in the first half with not just good but some great football.
Our problem is not having a threat in front of goal which is not Brunos fault. I’m going to be slightly controversial here but (like Coady) we need an upgrade for Raul….he is not coming back to the pre-injury Raul (fucking Davide Luiz knew exactly what he was doing…cunt)
Second half we faded miserably and you are right DM we didn’t have the quality off the bench to change things
13 days to find that striker, times ticking get it done

Did you watch the game?

Out of interest who would you go for ?

I know you didn't ask me but I'd throw as much money as it took at Lopetegui. It seemed he was leaving Sevilla back in may but it hasn't come to fruition, it's ambitious but I think it's possible considering the players we've brought in this season.

I agree I'd love him here.

He owes us one after the Spain job too.

1 game. Its been 1 game with all the new signings. 1 game.

Nothing you’ve said is wrong but is the absolute best we could manage against Fulham and Leeds 1 point?
Why are so many erasing history from last season?
It was the same manager not getting the best out of what he had?
Has he suddenly changed?

How anyone can defend Lage is beyond me at this point.

I'm begging anyone to tell me what our plan is going forward.

Thanks for the reply - it's fine. Yes he seems a good shout.

Positives: thought we totally dominated the first half, Spurs a tough nut to crack though. Definitely a tangible improvement on last week. Thought Guedes looked strong and direct, impressed with him. Liked the look of Collins most of the time, unfortunate about the goal, he'll learn. I've seen some criticism of Jonny but thought he was much more engaged than last week? Semedo looked full of energy and strong when he came on. Hopefully he's nearer a start.

Negatives: Players without confidence and directness in the opposition third still. Neto really looks a shadow of himself, hopefully a goal or assist soon perks him up and his self-belief. RAN is a little enigma, always feels like an accident waiting to happen in our box. Still young though. Adama a waste of a shirt, seemed disinterested and reluctant to run at them. Value decreasing all the time.

Bruno needs points on the board, and this team should be good enough to get them.

This was the first game with the new signings, and with Raul, Joao and Semedo bolstering us, we need a decent return from the next few games.

calmed down a tad now, second half it was just too easy. there was no shape.

one or 2 simple balls and they were in behind the midfield running at the defence.

jonny gave the ball away far too often, Ran was poor defensively.

Collins and Killman were excellent brain fart from Collins excepted.

midfield 3 were excellent, Nunes faded which is understandable given the pace on the premier league.

second half we were really poor and no tactical awareness from Large to change anything, his idea seems to be throw different players on we needed to have a better shape defensively it was fuckn easy for spurs.

Hi Alan, you make a fair comment and post match and emotion, we should not be reactive and thinking in terms of chopping managers at this stage. Leave that to Watford and Everton 😊
We put in a good shift in the first half without being clinical and if you look at the build up posts prematch most people would have chosen at least ten out of the starting eleven in that formation.
Game of opinions of course, and many fans are looking for an instant change of manager. Haven’t been on the Spuds fans forum, but would say that a fair few know that they’d got away with one there, that’s football. So, we do need a tad of patience to at least see the systems with the new players start to bed in and any new recruits before the end of the window
The next 6 games are crucial for that, win 3, and draw 3 and we can judge better, lose 5 and I’m in the camp where we will need a change.
We need to stay with a modicum of positivity, but agree Bruno does have a limited shelf life if results don’t change
You must have set the alarm early btw? 😁

Would just like us all to pause our thoughts on Lage and have a little think about that performance from Adama... He seemed to have no pace or desire to do anything.

Think at this point he's in the wrong team. Like it would be good for him to get a move somewhere and not just for us recouping some money and losing the fustration element. I half joked last season that Burnely could make good use of him, 2 strikers in the box to aim for. Not sure where he could go in the prem now

Correct Aikiwolf, start him on Tuesday and get him to run hi bollox off, if he doesn’t perform then don’t let him anywhere near the 1st team. He was a bit embarrassing tbh.😠

Just frustrated. Same story every week (or feels that way), and no matter what anyone says, the fact that this lack of cohesion in attacking play goes back to last season is significant, IMO.
