what I am saying, is that I want all protesters to be treated the same by the police and the law. Surely that is progressive politics?

There can never be an excuse for the police to indiscriminately arrest a protester who is protesting lawfully and even less of an excuse for police violence, when they are being restrained by several officers and showing no resistance to being arrested.

So you haven't got all the evidence then. What if said protester called the police every name under the sun before the camera started rolling? What if they acted the cunt earlier, and this was captured on CCTV and then the police IDed them and pulled them out? What if they were identified as having an existing arrest warrant? You can't know that isn't the case.

If I went on a forum full of right wing people they would say I am wrong about most things too. I only have contempt for far right politics and support a just inclusive society. We don't get that my making the facts suit our political ideology. We get it by being just and tolerant and having a police force and judiciary system that treats all people equally, plays a very important part of that.
I prefer to be progressive and my truth does not depend on my political ideology.

But you are making that up as you didn't hear it yourself. What we can see is police hitting demonstrators after they have been detained.

The far right claiming to be mainstream thought is a well worn trope, Moseley did it in the 1930's, he also claimed brutality and pedalled victim hood.

If you're on a protest march organised by a bunch of racists you might want to think about your life choices.

That goes for left and right. Some of the pro-palestine stuff is nasty, all of the far right stuff is and both are intolerant to other views.

We've recently jailed a hate preacher for the rest of his natural life because the strand of Islamic ideology he supports is just as bad as fundamental Christians believing only white people should exist.

I'd rather both groups were disposed of permanently.

I guess that depends on how you define “leftist”, but as someone who spent some time as a young adult active in far left politics I can assure you that hatred and bigotry was alive and well and nothing much has changed.

Edit: one thing I would agree with is that factionalism has long been a problem within the left with various groups entrenched in their own versions of socialist politics. It's what drove me away from being politically active. I wouldn't say in all my years I was involved politically I saw bigotry. Hatred, maybe, but mostly hatred of the Tories, right wing politics and the established economic hegemony that entrenched inequality. And honestly, I still hate those things, and I don't see a problem with hating those things.

Who on the left hates Jews? Seriously, give an answer that distinguishes between hating Jews and hating Zionist politics. Because if you equate those two things, then you are part of the world that enables the genocide in Gaza. But we've been down this road before, and you don't want to see the difference.

Equally its obvious to most that anti-israeli feeling often crosses to anti-Semitism. Plenty of memes shared by 'left wingers' have crossed that boundary.
