Costa just sort of fell onto him, wasn't really in the right position to try and put himself between defender and ball to get any real contact out of the challenge.

What is "real contact"?

Well not an attacker just flopping down on top of a defender.

If Costa could've got another step across then he would've had the defender go right through his legs but he didn't get far enough across so the defender just slid down the side of him and Costa collapsed onto him looking for the foul. He's tried to buy the foul but he just hasn't got into the right position to make it happen.
