Rob Edwards - the prodigal son returns

I don't believe it. O'Neil is the most professional, hard working, innovative football genius that ever lived.
You’re right not to believe it.

It was to watch the golf on the telly. Masters.

It’s a garbage, small-time managerial appointment that is just about the logical endpoint of catastrophic mismanagement since Nuno. Just as with GON, the taking the knee booing / you know who you are singing moron element of the fanbase will give him ludicrous amounts of leeway for being a Brit. Then a bit more for his meaningless connection to the club. They’re already out there hoping Tommy Doyle might come back. A good chunk of our fanbase would rather we were utterly mediocre if it meant they could be comfortable in their parochial world.

When Nuno was here we were outward looking, ambitious and bold. It was everything I’d dreamed for my club. The tossers in the media hated us and continued to dislike him because he didn’t give a shit about their garbage opinions. Likewise with the owner. They’ll love us now, and a bunch of our fans will be happy, because we know our place once again. But I can’t stand it.

I’d rather have had a complete unknown from the Mendes list or god knows where for the long shot chance it was someone with a spark of ability and leadership. At least they’d have gone at the end of a desperate season and we could have tried to appoint a genuinely talented, high-potential coach. Haha, imagine! We’re now locked into mediocrity regardless of the complete shambles that the remainder of this season will be. Outside of his Wolves connection Edwards just seems to be more or less the same as GON in terms of ability and self-promotion to me. The reasons for the change he’s choosing to make are economically rationale but suspect otherwise. Though I have no doubt that the extent of his ambition only matches that of the ownership (‘fighting’ somewhere below the playoffs is fine), he’ll go with us in a poor position. But it’s going to take much longer than it should for us to pull the trigger and we’ll be firmly back at ground zero.

Maybe this is all unfair and he’s actually a top bloke, his actions just unfortunate optics in a sector where you’ve got to look after yourself. I really hope so. Im just mighty angry with so much about our club right now. Not a big one for the ‘hahaha yeah my team are useless so what do I expect’ mentality, thanks.
