Rio 2016

So - what's the TWF consensus - Rebecca Adlington and Mark Foster? Are they or aren't they?

What I'm interested in is their ability to perform in front of the camera's. What I've seen/listened to of Adlington so far is that she's giggly/shrill and wouldn't have got past a screen test if I was doing the auditioning. Her achievements in getting four olympic medals was fantastic but that in no way should be a passport to a career in television if she hasn't got the skillset required. Mark Foster is OK for me.

A mention for John Hunt, who is doing the radio commentary of the swimming at the games and is doing a fabulous job.

43 year old American Kristin Thomas wins the women's time trial. Pretty good in itself considering this is her 3rd gold in a row. Interestingly the woman she beat into 2nd was a known drugs cheat who was only allowed to compete at the last minute. Olga Zabelinskaya was only reinstated in September last year and allowed to compete in the games last Friday. Pretty embarrassing work from the IOC in my opinion they let this known drugs cheat race and I feel for all of the other competitors who had to compete against a cheat.

Cancellara is absolutely flying towards gold.

Froome struggling to reach the medals.

In the rugby sevens, GB beat NZ 21-19 to top their group.

Japan 2nd and NZ 3rd.

NZ will have to play another group's 3rd place team to qualify for the next round.

Cancellara was on a different planet today, blew away the field and I don't think Doumilin or Froome were expecting that, otherwise the race went more or less to form.

Is the current weather in Rio normal? One commentator today described it as like a December night at Molineux...

Average temp in Rio in August is around 22C, 21C today apparently.

Listening to Mathew Pinsent he sounds remarkably like Dale Winton.

Cracking stuff. My bookkeeper is in the same club as him (Stone and Stafford) he'll be chuffed. Staffordshire doing its bit for GBR as we seem to have struck gold twice.

Yep - long live The Knot.

Yeah, Yorkshire can kiss our ass.

Bronze in the judo.

Looking like gold could be on in the fancy jumping into a swamp. Where the most biased commentator on earth seems to be calling "our boys" home.
