Rio 2016

Russia banned from paralympics.

Well done BBC. Go for a channel change and miss the most important part of the women's cycling.

Oh my - that was a dreadful accident for the leader. I hope she is okay but that looked really really bad.

Horrific to watch. Was just talking about the state of the kerbs.

Those descents were plain dangerous - those kerbs too high - what were the race organisers thinking of?

Conscious but in shock. Wow. So happy to hear she is alright. Watching it all I thought was Fabio Casartelli all over again. That descent is frankly dangerous. Boardman was clearly very angry about it.

And he's right - you shouldn't have to endanger yourself quite so much to win a race - this is the Olympics not some Japanese reality show.

Absolutely. Those gutters should have been padded and protected. The Tour learned from the dreadful Casartelli incident and there is no excuse for that descent. Too narrow, too dangerous.

Don't know what's happened to the Men's Hockey Team - they look as if they've gone backwards in the last year or so.

...and they score - let's try that again - blimey, the GB Hockey team look poor...

Men have been poor. Ladies recorded their first Olympic win against Oz, great start.

I don't think the damp roads helped. A horror crash as others have said and glad she's OK. It was a. Thoroughly enjoyable race though and pleased a Dutch rider won after that crash.

Anybody on here a Hockey player - used to play for Cannock 30 years ago, but there were some great clubs in the area - Wombourne, Old Wulfs etc

Yeah, hockey player here, but not local. A GK, very much counting down the next month til start of season.
Given the warm up form expect our ladies to be the better UK medal hope. Our men very much struggling from here, probably need at least 2/3 to progress.
