Since reading the last two pages of this thread, my brain hurts. Not sure if that is because we are in/out of the EU though

Its not exactly odd that the last 10 years have resulted in much more rules on financial companies. I mean, its hardly as if they single-handedly tried to bankrupt us 10 years ago is it....?

The other examples are fishing (cod has only just recovered from over fishing), ports and art dealing (one of the last refuges of the money launderer)

If you take industries like coal, steel and many others out of the 'blame EU' equation there isn't really much that I could personally thank the EU for or more importantly give me any inkling of great times ahead. I'm more for competition and innovation rather than protectionism. I saw somebody blaming Brexit because his flowers costs more to import - surely somebody can grow them in this country far cheaper? I saw Brexit as opportunity rather than continued stagnation ..

You can only blame brexit for the never ending downfall of our currency. Conversely the death of our manufacturing industry has very little to do with the EU and much more to do with our successive governments prioritising short term capital growth via financial services over long term investment in manufacturing, we are reaping the results of thatcherism.

Too much dictatorship over Countries will see the end of the EU.
 
But Poland is going against fundamental values of the EU. The whole point of the EU is Union. If one country is buggering about on fundamental values then surely it should be called to order by the rest of the nations?

I don't know a lot about it, but weren't remainers on here saying that Countries still have their own sovereignty?
 
This isn't really about sovereignty.

The EU isn't saying thet poland cannot implement laws that are against democratic values. However, if Poland does implement such laws then the rights that Poland enjoys as a member of the Union will be diminished.

It would then be Poland's sovereign right to decide on whether or not to remain in the Union.
