REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Are you seriously suggesting we have enriched those values by closing our borders and vindicating the far right?

Those aren't specifically British though are they?

Qualifying them as such isn't doing your 'not racist' claim any good because it supposes that those qualities are only inherent to the British people. It sounds like a BNP sound bite.

This is what I mean by onerous claptrap. Making incorrect assumptions and twisting what people say is puerile.

Do you want to restrict free movement of citizens or not?

I would call that closing the borders.

Has the vote given some form of legitimacy to a bunch of far right taggers on that the Leave campaign need to deal with so that they aren't all tarred with that brush?

Yes - have you not seen the National Front with their lovely Repatriation Now posters? They are jumping on the Leave success. This is not the fault of the Leave campaign, but it is a consequence of it.

Do you honestly think we could go on like we were? Where would it all stop? Infrastructure, housing, schools, health at breaking point. Something had to give. If they had prepared the country beforehand, it might have been different, but both governments didn't.

The UK is already the most densely populated in the EU, after Malta, it couldn't carry on.

The reason why infrastructure, housing, schools, health are at breaking point is down to ongoing underinvestment by the UK government. Nothing to do with the EU.

Indeed, many studies have shown that the five million or so EU citizens resifing in the UK are net contributors - the problem is that the government prefers to use those contributions to cut taxes for the rich instead of funding the thungs you mention.

Alright, alright. Apart from Monaco, Malta, Gibraltar, Vatican City Guernsey, Jersey, San Marino, The Netherlands and Belgium we're definately the most densely populated country in Europe. It couldnt be clearer.

Yeah, this whole "small island" argument is just a veil, IMO.

At what rate is the birth-rate and living population of UK citizens increasing, as a matter of interest?

We're having more and more children, fewer infant deaths and our elderly are living longer than ever.

Why qualify values with the word British if it isn't to invoke some kind of nationalistic rhetoric?

It's a disgrace that this kind of language has become commonplace recently and that you think it's acceptable.

So, as you haven't understood a word I have written and you're all intelligent people, can you tell me why you didn't have a plan?

To be fair none in the leave campaign really had the position within government to formulate the plan. I do think there is an outline plan but that has been stuffed to the back burner by the in fighting of both main parties. Farage probably had a plan but has no power or authority as he is not an MP. At the moment you cannot plan with any certainty as there are still far to many options . It was never as simple as thatnk you and goodbye. It has been made even more complicated by the actions of so called leaders from here and from Europe. It is naive to think that such a fundamental shift would be put in place at the flick of the switch. Everything pre vote pointed to a two year window of negotiation. Now it appears that with so many chcking their toys out of the pram that may have to be even longer. I agree its a fucking mess. Its a bigger mess than even the most ardent leave supporter expected however half that mess is being caused by people who were and are firmly in the remain camp. I keep banging on about it. This was a time to unite and unite quickly. The failure to do that is an indictment of our leaders,

At PMQs Cameron just passed the buck to his successor on the cash promised to Wales :/

In my opinion the Leave campaign have ruined the country.

And I will never forgive it.

I am not saying this but now you know how all those people who wanted out or voted to leave in 1975 have felt for 40 years. However you cant say that until we actually leave and are shown to be doing much worse on our own. As that wont happen the whole country including me and you Padd should help ride out the choppy waters.

Yes, I'll take that on the chin, excluding thise tiny countries, would England not the UK, be the second most densely populated?

Could I ask the Brexiters here what they make of the apparent u-turn of the Brexit campaign over immigration and the use of EU funds in the future?

Do you think immigration numbers will drop and will the NHS get their 350 million a week?

If not, is this a problem?

I cant comment on conjecture. Ask me again when we have left and have some trade figures to evidence it and I will give an honest answer.

Why England specifically? Seeing as you are dragging Scotland along in this, seems a touch unfair on leaving them out in the population density question.

Well I also do not expect a 16 million rush from remainers to look for employment abroad in the EU either.

And this also puts my plans on hold for any move to Spain. But actions have consequences.

It's hard to tell given that we're now apparently full of shifted goalposts.
