REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

I was at a trade show yesterday and I can't remember one person saying they voted for remain. These certainly aren't stupid people and includes people that have multi million pound businesses.

A lot seemed to comment how relieved they were that they had speaking to many 'normal' people that had voted leave as they had been made to feel they'd help ruin the country.

Did they give the reasons why?

I'm absolutely dismayed and disappointed by what I am reading on here. It's not from the media but from people who are making assumptions about why voters have decided to leave the EU.

I have many friends on both sides of the fence and the 'mud slinging' is clearly coming from the 'remain' side. Let me tell you that my friends who have voted to leave are not ignorant, stupid, uneducated nor racist. They are however brave and determined to secure what they believe is a better future for themselves and their families. Their choice to leave wasn't taken lightly and I've watched them debate this on social media for weeks. To suggest that more than half of the UK didn't understand what they were voting for is utter rubbish.

Clearly emotions are running high, but what an onerous way to express your opinion, by calling people thick, stupid and xenophobic because they don't share your view about being a member of the EU.

More respect should be shown and people should now be looking to work together to achieve the best outcome for everyone.
Being negative and just complaining about everything is not helping anyone and is being corrosive.

Please show some patience and have faith that we have the wherewithal to come out of this situation by keeping our British values intact.

So, as you haven't understood a word I have written and you're all intelligent people, can you tell me why you didn't have a plan?

Which is a shame to be lumped in with the bigots, xenophobes and racists as I'm sure if the Leave campaign had a plan, albeit one that may need to be tweaked then at least people could debate that. But all there is at the moment is lies and increased racialist attacks.

Opinion, nothing more, but to be fair what else can you base the future on?

Market trends, import and export costs, currency forecasts, credit ratings...???

In my opinion the Leave campaign have ruined the country.

And I will never forgive it.

What on earth are British Values? How are they different to Danish values, or Swedish values, or Italian values?

Why bring nationality into it at all?

Is that all this is to you, about money? Some of us have other values that are more important.

Not at all, far from it. I was just asking about how the opinions of the business owners of the Leave camp are formed.

I work for a school, hardly driven by financial reward!!

I often wonder that. IMO any national values we held as Britons have been severly diminished and tarnished by the Leave campaign and only worsened by their victory.

Since Friday morning, I feel less British than ever.

However, if economy is strong and business is doing well then generally people's lives and other things that are important tend to improve off the back of it.

You're the one assuming all of these voted Leave. You don't know that.
You also don't know that Leave don't have a plan, because they haven't discussed it with you.

Everything is being held up by party political disputes at the moment, as you and the other 'remainers' on here know. But it doesn't stop your onerous claptrap.

Not for the public sector, generally. That depends more on the Gov in place really.
