REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Seemed like Vote Leave were making a big push around Derby, steadily been seeing more and more signs going up alongside roads in recent weeks and then they've had tossers in fancy dress standing around the couple of islands on the A38 waving signs at people the last couple days too.

Surely that sort of promoting can't really gain much support? I mean who's really going to be swayed by two words on the roadside, it just makes no sense to me.

Birmingham expected to be closer than originally thought. The big cities will be vital for both sides, it is expected these areas will be the strongholds of the remain campaign.

The longer it goes on and the more I am convinced that London votes will be the deciding factor.

Birmingham is a lot more remain than thought actually. No way it was expected to be 55/45

Alex Salmond just made what seemed a very valid point.

They were discussing whether or not a referendum was the right call for this decision and whilst he agreed it was the only fair way to decide on such big issues he felt Cameron was always likely to be in for a difficult time as you'd only really call a referendum to instigate a big change but Cameron has granted a referendum when he wanted things to stay the same.

I suppose people are always going to be drawn to the new option, a bit of grass always being greener thinking, and if you give them the opportunity to choose something different, especially if things aren't great as they are, then there's always potential for them to take the risk on change.

Leave now favourites to win, though there is an awful long way to go. And it appears that Labour supporters voting out could be crucial. It was said all along that it was not only the Conservatives that were divided.

But I still think that remain will sneak through once the big city results come through.

Glasgow is a big win for Remain. Remain actually now ahead. However, the forecast finish is still for Leave I think.

Glasgow vote to remain. The pattern is developing now, remain should win by a small majority.

Wales looks very tight, everything so far has gone Leave but by very small margins.

A momentous day potentially.

As for the markets this was always going to cause volatility.

The electorate is speaking, and it shows a country absolutely divided geographically, even more so than normal.

As you lot are sleeping, Leave looks like it may have mounted a lead that it won't relinquish.

I'm surprised and disappointed. That said, if the results stay like this it will be an, erm, interesting period for European politics.

How's it dividing up? I can see the overall results here but can't seem to find a breakdown by district.

England and Wales OUT. Scotland and that London thing IN.

£ v $ = Ouch

If an OUT the money will pour into the UK.
