REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Reckon you'd leave the UK and immediately adopt the Euro?
They've always stated that they want to keep the pound, but that might be too difficult with us outside of the EU.

Currently have my house on the market can pretty much see me taking it off in a few weeks.
If I hear anyone at work today spouting the narrow minded crap we've got our country back or no more migration then I might not be responsible for my actions.

Oh god!, just got up and been greeted with the news, this is gonna be an unmitigated disaster for the poor and working class of this Country.
The same people who are voting out.

Sleep walking into their own fucking demise.

this makes things...interesting, but given how close the polls were it's not that much a surprise. even if remain had scraped in it would hardly have been a ringing endorsement.

Cameron must be wondering wtf he has done assuming he believes his own fear campaign.

Whichever way one voted one of the most dissapointing facts is that roughly 13,000,000 people who were registered didn't bother

I know that happens in all elections (& the turnout higher was much higher than on many other occasions), but on such a critical decision would have hoped that most would have wanted their say

it is disappointing but perhaps the conduct of the debate turned them off.

reality is, you give people a 50/50 choice. they're entitled to believe neither is armageddon or why are you offering it?
if people aren't happy enough about something they'll typically vote for change. only one choice gave them that.

Just turned on the news.

Can't believe what I'm seeing - we're in for a very difficult few years. This can't be anything but terrible news for the country.

Fucking hell. Just woke up to the news. Genuinely shocked and dismayed. It is going to damage so many people, none of them rich and powerful.

Give enough angry people the opportunity to press a big red button marked "change" and this is going to happen.

And all because of internal Conservative party politics. Thanks Tories - you've ducked the country up once again.

On a brighter note, my dad's Irish (sorry, one of those nasty immigrants) so I'll be getting Irish passports for me and the kids. (Sorry Mrs SLA, you don't qualify)

The big mistake Remain made was having David Cameron as the lead campaigner.

Nothings changed, Will & Grace is still on Channel 4.

I would now fully expect the leaders of our country to have a full sensible
plan in place which doesn't involve scaremongering bullshit for when
we finally exit in 2018.

From a Telegraph political correspondence tweet:

HOW AGES VOTED (YouGov poll) 18-24: 75% Remain 25-49: 56% Remain 50-64: 44% Remain 65+: 39% Remain #EUref

Fucking horrendous. Expect Scotland out of the U.K. immediately. Economic disaster as the markets completely collapse. Not to mention the NHS being torn apart and the end of free health care when on holiday in Europe.

Well played the British people. Superb stuff. Riding blindly into disaster. You don't like Cameron don't vote for him in a general election. You are going to love Boris Johnson with bloody power.

What a good decision I made on Wednesday cashing in most of my holiday spending money to Euros.

The remain campaign fucked it up by going so negative - but then I guess there was no real positive argument for staying in the eu, only the fear of leaving.

Now the British public have voted, we will see what can be done by an independant nation, which still has a lot going for it. Personally I think it will be a tough few years for us and Europe but we'll be in a better place in the long term.

Guildford voted to remain. I'm starting my campaign for an independence referendum today.

Unfortunately you can't cash in your pension which is going to be worth about twenty per cent less in a few hours. Those not affected by that have just voted in droves for the rest of us to suffer that.

A bit OTT Paddy. Scotland can not leave the UK immediately, markets have crashed before and recovered. Anyone with a brain in the Conservative party could see that Cameron would be a divisive "leader" for remain and so it has proved.

We're utterly fucked for at least the next 5 years. Long term England and Wales will be a much poorer place - Britain will be no more.

Interesting this, enjoy the benefit but don't pass it on:

Really? Gove will tear the NHS up. Markets will take years to recover by which time you will be taking a greatly reduced pension. Sturgeon will immediately demand independence after the stark difference in voting. This is a complete disaster. No two ways about it.

Pound expected to to drop to $1.25 today...
