REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

It's an amendment to the queen's speech, which all opposition parties will vote against in its entirety.

The Labour amendment was just a massively overblown stunt that they knew other parties wouldn't back, just so Labour could bleat 'They want to privatise the NHS'

Childish politics.

Other than the SNP, Greens, Plaid Cymru and some TIGs.

The Queen's Speech is nothing more than the Conservative Party electioneering, Labour's motion had the desired effect of getting news coverage about their plans for the NHS.

Lolz. Happy to continue like this for at least the next 50 years.

Not for the first time, I don't understand Johnson's strategy. Why link the GE to passing his Bill? Have your election, get your majority and then pass it through before Xmas and make your campaign about being out before the end of the year. Clearly spooked by Farage.

Nobody wants an election this time before Xmas, certainly no opposition parties as it means they will miss the student vote.

It just makes Johnson look rather pathetic.

Let him flounder. Let him stew. Let him call a vote of no confidence in himself and when he loses all get together to offer a cogent government within 14 days.

Some interesting stats that should give labour and liberals serious pause for thought.

148 labour mps serve leave voting constituencies. You 100% know that if labour liberals back remain a good proportion of the labour votes in those areas won't go to Tories they will go to Farage and brexit. The opposition parties are still thinking about the parliament 70/30 remain split forgetting the 9/3 regional split in favour of leave. Boris wins and Farage holds the balance. Its a nightmare.

Farage will take votes, not seats

I remain confident that Nige's Brexit New Party wouldn't get five seats.

The spread is still only 5.5 with Sporting Index, and this is when we know that Mr Toad can bawl away saying that Boris lied about a 31 October exit.

Sounds like wishful thinking Cyber.

I think Boris will win with a similar margin and we will see more Lib Dems and less Labour. Possibly one Brexit part MP.

Also Remain now polls at 55%. Loads of Leavers have died, loads of young Remainers are now of voting age, there are enough people who understand what a nonsense proposal the whole thing is now and have changed their mind (who on earth would have voted Remain then but Leave now, next to no-one).

It isn't 2016 now.

Plus General Elections are not single-issue affairs, T-Boz made that mistake in 2017.

So labour supporters who voted leave will vote Tory who will campaign as the leave party at this election? I can't see it. Brexit party gives them the option without voting Tory. Brexit is a single issue party, at a time when the only issue is brexit. Nothing else can happen til that's dealt with. Those stats show exactly why Labour does not want a GE. They would be hammered. And that is incredible. They should be a shoe in.

I hope you're right. I fear otherwise.

No, I think Labour voters will still vote Labour, by and large.

Expose the utter bollocks that is Johnson's deal (worse than what his predecessor was offering) and the Tories aren't getting near a majority.

Wishful thinking three years ago I agree. But unfortunately all the fighting over brexit has allowed some far right morons too big a voice and our social values are taking a hit. Now its not a good thing as we need a good opposition. The fact we don't have one unnerves me terribly.

£10 says they do.

Nah, you're ok :icon_lol:

What I will say is that the last time the Tories won a majority that was worth a hill of beans, Wolves were in Division Four and Enzo Ferrari was still alive.

Hopefully over time our pathetic media will realise the age of 2 party politics is over.

Labour supporters in some instances will vote for Farage. 30% of Labour voters in 2017 voted for Brexit the prior year. It won't win them seats though, they aren't taking Sunderland, Stoke, Barnsley etc off Labour. They will help to turn marginals blue
