REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

If she tries to go down that road we genuinely might not be that far from royal intervention. We are still a constitutional monarchy and the PM is in charge at the behest of Queenie. Obviously precedent from shit like 1642-1646 suggests royal intervention is not normal, but I think we are getting close to something occurring.

Prince Philip on Chauffeur duty?

May stating she does not guarantee she will endorse parliaments indicative votes.
So the will of the people is too significant to over-ride, but the will of the peoples elected representatives? well, meh to that.

Still sticking to the her deal is the only deal mantra. I mean she has lost it twice, been told it won't pass a 3rd time, seen her Government lose the power of the HoC on what to do next so you can see why she is clinging on to that

She's no different to Trump. A dictatorial, hypocritical, bigoted fraud who doesn't give a fuck what others say, and has no respect for the office she holds.

There's no way she's going to walk and there's no way the Tories will concede their power on what is - for them - a comparatively trivial matter when it comes to what really counts.

I wonder if camerons idea could backfire spectacularly. The tories are ripping themselves apart at some of this. It seems there isn't an option that will unite the tory party. Could we see a split? Say ERG/grand wizards toddling off?

Nah - they have power where they are now. As a breakaway they become a noisy minority

It'd be interesting if everything fractured.

ERG/UKIP gammons
One Nation Tories
TIG/Lib Dems/Greens
Corbynites
Centrist Labour
Nordies who don't believe dinosaurs existed
SNP
Plaid

You'd need PR, obviously.

Bring it on. If we can trust the people to vote for it this time and the powers that be to actually have a PR vote not some watered down shitty version of it.

Sometimes watered down versions can work. Hopefully thats what BREXIT will be. The Alternative vote was up there with Mays deal as a shit option.

Downing Street firmly not ruling out MV3 later this week [Thursday?]: “If we are able to hold and win a vote this week, we will be able to leave the EU in two months, which is what the PM firmly believes is the right thing,” her spokesman says.

:smack:

DUP still not voting for it. So would be a waste of time.

Genuinely would be so interested in what would happen if this was the case. The parliament make up would be so interesting.

Yeah, looking like a typical EU member parliamentary mix..........

Well you would end up with very different manifestos because you would need the groups to work toward consensus areas to hang a workable coalition on. So the more extreme ends of the spectrum would end up outside power one would imagine.

So rumours May will announce tomorrow when she will resign as PM. This is to get support for her deal.

Can someone explain to my how that even makes sense. The majority of her party + the DUP hate the deal so how will agreeing to vote in exchange for May popping off early change anything. They will have voted for a deal they dont agree with so it goes through, which they dont want *head caves in*

I guess because in their minds the only alternatives left are either a very long extension or no Brexit at all. Both of which would be the equivalent of pissing all over the heads of every single one of the 60 million good British citizens who definitely totally voted for a no-deal Brexit.

Because it keeps them in power?

And no, I don't understand how that works either but it's all it boils down to. It's the reason the referendum was called, it's the reason Johnson and Gove decided to pledge their allegiance to the Leave campaign (they weren't supposed to bloody well win - stoopid voters), it's the reason why there weren't enough votes against the PM in the vote of no confidence.

Doing what's right for the country in light of some pretty damning evidence that we're all going to be fucked isn't even on their radar.

They think that the WA can get through, Gammon McBrexit takes over as new PM (without an election) and then they can row back on everything that has been agreed. Except that would be breaking an international treaty which is a bit of a no-no.

They don't know what they're doing.
