REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

I saw footage of an Irish reporter actually pull Farage up on this bullshit he was spouting on her show. Why do so few British journalists do this?

Digby Jones on Newsnight last night lied again on camera saying that he voted knowing we'd be worse off economically. (He previously said not 1 job will be lost following Brexit).

It's bizarre these lying twats are getting away with this crap.

He was embarrassing and wouldn't give the fellow guests the right to reply. It ended up with Emily Maitlis ripping in to him but at least that showed him up to be lying scumbag that he is.

This is part of the problem. The media in this country are just letting them get away with making shit up.

I think that is very unfair unless you know exactly what the UK is going to look like in 10 year, 15 years or 20 years time.

I'm pretty sure we will have a free trade with the EU once it has all settled down and they have accepted that we are no longer part of it as free trade is better for both sides of the fence. Equally, we will also have negotiated free trade deals with nations further afield too. There will also be a small matter of the £8.9bn net contribution that is made.

Yes, we are going to have a lot of pain for the next 10 years or so, to the extent that I am not prepared to except, but I don't think my kids will suffer from Brexit.

The moment the EU finalizes a deal allowing an ex-member state to enter the free market, without freedom of movement, is the day the whole system ends. All the rest will leave the Union.

Seriously doubt this will ever happen. There might be trade deals, but not as part of the free market.

It will happen eventually once all this is forgotten and the UK and the EU look at what is best for both. They won't keep agreeing them with other nations whilst not talking to their closest partners.

I don't think the EU will be still about in it's current form in 10 or so years anyway.

I still believe the mess lies at the feet of the remainers in charge of getting us a Brexit. At this point it’s democracy and a no deal or how can we trust a democratic process ever again.

With all the remoaner and media scare mongering we’re in an absolute state as a country.

How the hell is it the Remainers responsibility to deliver Brexit? They voted to stay in the EU. The people who wanted to leave got their wish, and now are making a balls of it.

How the hell you have come to the conclusion that is the Remainers fault is beyond me lol.

It's not his fault, he's a victim of online radicalisation.

I'm not defending James's post but this is my interpretation of what he is saying.

He's saying that having a remainer (Theresa May) in charge of delivering Brexit is stopping him from getting his own version of Brexit Utopia.

What the fuck that is god only knows but it may involve a wall to wall wrestling channel on the BBC with the option of a red button change of commentary to having Abba playing in the background whilst the council delivers free snow clearing services to wherever his vehicle may be situated.

The Carpenters surely? He's not a monster.

i think moaning about theresa may is fair enough, though i doubt any of the 'brexiteer' front runners would have done any better unless a complete no deal was the objective, which may be where we end up anyway

the stuff about democracy is bullshit though. absent any referendum you'd still have theresa may or a.n other as pm of the country delivered by the pre-exisiting so-called democratic process. now you either believe in that process as democratic or you don't. why would what happens in a referendum change one's view on that process?

Triggering article 50 was a huuuuuuuuuuuuugggggggggeeeeeeeeee mistake. It put time pressures on that were not required. Idiotic, moronic, stupid idea

We are already seeing Brexit supporting MPs (and the media) now trying to shift all the responsibility for reaching an agreement over to the EU and the Irish. How predictable. The public will of course buy it and if we crash out it won't be the fault of any of the people that have caused this mess at all.

I cannot put into words how much contempt I have for these people. Cunts doesn't even begin to describe them.

the issue was triggering it without a plan, without knowing or investigating what you could get approval for, without even understanding the laws of the UK and actually attempting to undermine the parliamentary democracy they supposedly represent. and every other leading Brexiteer would have done the same.

If there's one thing that unites the average Tory MP, it's that they're fucking lazy. This is becoming more and more evident by the day. David Davies is the prime example of this. They basically haven't been arsed to put in the necessary work to bring about any sort of workable Brexit, and will now seek to shift the blame elsewhere.

But the "intransigent EU" narrative, though arrant bollocks, will play beautifully in the necessary media outlets and confirm lots of pre-existing prejudices and thus they will storm it at the next general election.
That is what this whole thing has been about after all - keeping the Tory party together and in power. Nothing else matters.
