REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

As she clearly isn't listening to anything other than "we will vote for your shit deal" Corbyn must use his speech this morning to put Labour firmly behind a second referendum motion.

Mark is right, she can't rule out 'no deal'. She can only promise to give a vote but if the BBC tweet is true then she has lied to parliament and the people on that podium last night.

No she can’t but she can certainly put it on the table for discussion, which is what Sturgeon wants.

It's what the majority of the House wants (and I certainly do) which is why she's taken it off the table. This is all because she doesn't want to fail to get a deal over the line and deliver Brexit.

The arrogance of this crone is staggering.

Philip Hammond told business leaders that the “threat” of a no-deal Brexit could be taken “off the table” within days and potentially lead to Article 50 “rescinded” in leaked conference call

So May says no chance and Hammond tells business leaders otherwise. A united Cabinet indeed

As the Labour front bench refuse talks look at the state of those who will now be in Whitehall trying to influence the PM's agenda.

The Labour leadership need to hold talks now, even if it is only to call her out for offering cross party talks but taking the chance of serious amendments off of the table.

May tells Plaid she won't rule out no deal. They walk away.

May tells the SNP she won't rule out no deal. They walk away.

May tells Lucas she won't rule out no deal. She walks away.

This cross-party consensus thing is going REALLY well.

Vote for Plan B on the 29th Jan. Of course Plan B currently = Plan A with added vote against it and we leave with No Deal.

So is this May's strategy - leave with no deal > pin the blame on Labour because they didn't come up with an alternative > win next election.

*Everything* the Tory party does is about the Tory party and how they can retain power. Nothing else matters.

What the fuck is she going to amend to her proposal in 12 days that will persuade 230 people to change their minds?! Free Freddo bar for each vote in favour?

Fucking hell. Round and round we go.....

116 need to change their minds but your point is correct.

Corbyn still banging on about elections. That is the wrong path. He has a clear path in backing second referendum. He stands a very decent chance of getting that through the House and then elections can follow after that.

Mr Corbyn says that "if the government remains intransigent", it does not call a general election or does not design a deal Labour can support, then it is time to look at other options.

Those options, he says, include "that of a public vote".

However, he makes clear a new referendum should be seen as a last resort.

As things stand, May is saying no deal is a better choice than remaining in the EU. Pure insanity, pure self interest, pure stupidity.

Corbyn can fuck off with this election nonsense - May needs to be stopped, he needs to find a way to negotiate either with her or with other Tories who might actually wake up to the fact that no deal would be catastrophic. We're running out of time. It's infuriating.

Problem is, I don't have a fucking clue what Corbyn wants, except obviously the top job.

JC - "I will say again I'm quite happy to talk - but the starting point is that the threat of a disastrous no deal outcome is taken off the table."

He adds: "Take no deal off the table now please, prime minister."

If she doesn't, he says, it will show "she isn't serious" about getting a Brexit deal through the Commons.
