REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

It's not stopped Andrew Neill, who's probably a more appropriate target for his anger. Funny how he gets a pass though.

Either way. I don’t agree with him, people are free to say what they want.

Yep, I just find it out that Aggers and the others always focus on Lineker and not an actual political reporter.

Christ on a bike. She is fucking clueless.

The whole fucking world has seen through that line for what it is, a vapid attempt at covering the fact she and her party and advisers simply do not know what they are trying to achieve.

She is terrified of a second referendum, and keeps trying to rule it out, despite being a remain voter herself. And with all other options being an economic or political apocalypse, I just struggle to understand why. Stubborn as a fucking mule.

to be fair (i know...) that quote has been disputed, and it appears to only have that one source.

May will say today that she doesn't believe a second vote is the way forward. The only deal shell get through the Commons is the softest of Brexits so not sure where she goes next it it isn't back to the people.

I just can't see anything other than posturing going on. There has been pretty much a month wasted on this deal which uniquely is the first thing that has United remain and leave camps in 30 months. Both sides 100% agree it's shit. Despite that T. May persists down this deal route. Somebody in British politics needs to stand up and be completely honest and say that despite having referendum having looked at the logistics it is impossible to leave the EU in march. Then Britain and the whole EU need to work on an hollistic document that provides a leave framework much as there exists a set of criteria to join the EU. Then and only then every country goes to the polls and either endorses the EU or leaves. That may take 3" or more years. So what? Something as important as this cannot be rushed. There have been far to many mistakes made with the EU over the last 20 years and these have been compounded over the last 30 months by Britain and the leave vote. It may be the right decision to leave but it has been proved that there are still far too many unknowns both on leave and on what remaining means. Revoke article 50 and start plan B. That way other euro sceptic countries would naturally be onside rather than the current 27'v 1.

I don't think there'd be any appetite in other EU nations to leave now. They only need to take one look at us to see what a daft idea it is. And the 27 have been remarkably solid and consistent in their approach to Brexit. If anything, Brexit has strengthened the EU rather than weakened it.

Indeed, typical Brexiter arrogance thinking the rest of the EU really a/ give a fuck anymore b/ would want to waste their own time and money on pointless referendums (referenda?)

Don't be a dick

We are the 7 th biggest economy in the world. If the EU are not concerned about the current situation then they would be demonstrating David Cameron levels of arrogance and stupidity. There are 6 or 7 EU countries who are still in the not too sure camps granted that seeing the absolute fuck up the UK is making of brexit will have given little appetite to any other countries leave campaign. So you would rather have Mays deal? A deal that effectively makes us worse off with fewer rights? Come on. That deal needs to be killed off. Statements like yours are used to fuel the argument for a no deal brexit .

Wishful thinking and supposition.

We were the 5th biggest economy before all this Brexiter induced nonsense. Rose-tinted nostalgia and xenophobia is driving the country backwards.

It's you who keeps harping on about nostalgia and race. I haven't used that argument once since the vote but you keep banging your drum to your agenda and maintain a position of defiance. You may well get your wish and we may well remain in the EU. You and others entrenched positions have been far less realistic of the situation we are in and how we move forward. Your only solution has been to go back 30 months and not do it, meaning that the issues 52% had with the EU would still be there. That's stupid. Not acknowledging the swell of feeling and just labelling it xenophobic or nostalgic patriotism is pathetic. There are plenty of things that need adjustment in the UK and my solution buys the time to look hollistically at it.

And that's the mistake Brexiteer MP's made. They didn't advocate or get other MP's from other countries to campaign for splitting the EU up by threatening to leave on mass unless something changed. Instead they became Nationalistic dicks with their own agendas and dragged the racist morons who supported them along as 'proof'.

If they had galvanised support from other parties in Italy, Poland and others in the European Parliament we could have had a better EU. Our own politicians have fucked this right up and to ask for our trust now is a fucking insult.

Asking the public would be a mistake, just cancel the whole fucking thing and start to change from the inside.

For different reasons I am coming to a similar conclusion
