REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Both are very active in getting their views out, it's just the BBC don't cover them.

Cable and Lucas have been very vociferous in parliament. Both making it clear what they want. A second referendum.

Yeah, they have said that from day one. I would have thought there would have been far more opportunities to sound a different tune to highlioght the failings of the big two parties. I think that no-one really wants to be in power during brexit as its a shit sandwich for whomever. Could be wrong.....

Well the greens and the lib dems are frankly not within a reindeer's bellow of power, no matter whether they wanted to be.

But both could hold the balance after an election and that surely will be winner than later.

Will need to win a few more seats than they have at the moment to have any real impact - think that combined they have less than the DP

Unless both the Tories & Labour split in some way due to internal divisions then not sure that either can have a serious impact

I know lots of labour supporters who would go lib demo in and around Cambridge and a number bit remain voting Tories who could jump. Heidi Allen is my MO and she is a remainer so she would be safe. Large majority for remain in my area

I cannot see the Lib Dems jumping from their small number of MPs to being a powerhouse. Balance of power is going to a challenge even as the SNP vastly outnumber them in the house today. Talking of the SNP - they would do very well again if an election was called tomorrow. Obviously they only contest the Scottish seats, but I think they would win the vast majority of them again.

Problem for the Lib Dems is the FPTP system we have - more than 50% in most constituencies will vote Labour 0r Tory out of blind loyalty (some areas could put a dead person up with the right colour rosette & they would win - mine included)

They are unlikely to be more than a 'possible' coalition partner if either of the main parties doesn't get a majority.

Having said that - the Tories (& to a lesser extent Labour) could well split so who knows what will happen next.

I've been voting Green since 2015 and I see no reason to change that any time soon.

They even have a local activist round here who goes door to door to listen to community concerns, even when there's no election on the horizon. Nice fella.

By contrast, Gavin Williamson is my MP and despite his office being just over a mile from my house, you never ever see the prick round here. Too busy thinking he's in Game of Thrones.

I'd like to vote green too, but I know our local candidate and he's terrible human being. God knows how he ended up in the greens.

Edit - seems to have changed, that's good :)

I too have voted Green since 2015. I was even a member for a while. I live in a nailed on Labour seat anyway so I also know there's no chance of letting the Tories in by not voting Labour.

Lib Dems fucked themselves in 2010. It'll take them another 10-15 years to recover.

I was all set to join the Greens after the MillIiband debacle but once Labour starred to adopt left of centre policies I didn't see the point.

See second post

Yeah, sorry, saw it after I posted. Although, it seemed his point was more about him disagreeing with Gary Lineker tweeting about politics and reckons he’d be sacked if he did the same.

It's not stopped Andrew Neill, who's probably a more appropriate target for his anger. Funny how he gets a pass though.
