REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

in which case he's saying that, based on his 'extrapolation', they can afford to pay the NHS an extra £350m/week.

so come on, show us the extrapolated plan and let's get on with it.

If anyone thought the claim was for £350m per week to go to the NHS, then they are easily fooled by adverts and spin.

You could read it that a one off amount of £350m could go to the NHS, the same amount that goes to the EU every week.

Or you could realise that what it is saying is that once we stop wasting money giving it to the EU, we can concentrate on increasing funding to what we feel is important to this country.

again, i didn't ask whether you took notice of it or not just whether you're defending it. yes or no?

Two days on and I am still struggling with the result. I still feel a bit sick every time I read about it and the country feels like a different place to me than it did on Thursday. I'm embarrassed to be English (I'd say British but this is mainly down to the English) and it feels like a country I no longer have a desire to be a part of. It's a horrible feeling.

And the Welsh! Don't be giving Paddy a free ride on this :run: :icon_lol:

why didn't they say that then?

do you think democracy is best served by politicians being honest and being held accountable for what they say or by the doublespeak you describe above?

If you can find me an honest politician that always speaks plainly, I would be impressed. Ask any politician a question and you never get a straight answer.

Out of 650 MPs about 150 from all parties were in the leave camp.realistically only they can enthusiastically get on with the task of implementing the will of the people. Both major parties have shown a real lack of solidarity to uphold the will of the people so far. If they don't like what is happening stand down and trigger by elections. Trigger 20 of those and it's bye bye majority should tory seats get lost.

Yes it is a mess. All divorces are messy. There are no winners only degrees of losing. Cameron was aware of that when he called a referendum.Eu leaders were aware of that when they kicked his arse on reform and changes. That was where this was lost. If the changes requested in February had been made and ratified remain would have won by a landslide!
I am so far unimpressed with the limp leadership from all sides with regard to what happens next but accept it is early days. Politicians need to grow a set sand get on with the job mandated by the people. Sturgeon will be doing just that for Scotland. She may however find the people are referendumed out

The last man to enter Parliament with honest intentions was guy fawkes

Completely agree.

Sorry but this is just a crass generalisation. There are 650 politicians in parliament, others in the devolved parliaments of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales and many 1000s in councils the length and breadth of the country. You really believe that not one of them gives a straight answer?

I don't understand the Welsh vote at all. They get more out of the EU than they put in. That article Jolemai linked - a town that benefits greatly from EU funding, has little immigration and they still voted to leave (with the person interviewed saying immigration was his reason for voting out).

I am truly sorry you feel that way. I have never been anything other tyhan a proud English man. But you can't have democracy without the risk of things not going the way expected. Something is so significantly off in england and wales that Joe public has voted to change history! Politicvians from all sides should take note asnd stop spouting shite. Time for honest men and women to step forward and rise to the challenge in an open asnd honest way

Still where I am. Struggling to watch any news channels at the moment. And I definitely feel ashamed to be English at the moment.

I think you'll find that even the most ardent leave supporter would acknowledge that the referendum hasn't changed history.

What? It is the biggest change in British history. We haven't even started yet.

If it hasn't changed history, why are the remain camp taking it so bad?

I asked the question on Friday and never got a sensible answer so I'll try again.
There are obviously some on this form who voted to leave, they may have children or grandchildren, given that the suggestion that a leave vote was based on immigration only is classed as being arrogant I would have thought that those with children saw something in a life outside he EU tha would benefit them.
I would like to know what that is and it's a serious question.

First point, we are currently in the EU and it's not made us a more prosperous place. In fact more than a few have been decimated.

I have seen no cohesion in the EU, no rise in equality and more obscure countries should not have a say on our destiny.

The Corporations of the world and the banks are more powerful than any Politician. We are better placed to put people first by the UK Ballot box.

Our EU Commissioner (I thought) given his background was there to serve Multi-Nationals. He was not elected by the British people (He was a Lord).

In short - Time for the people to take more control of their lives.

I answered you, I didn't take any notice of it. Do I defend politics, no, but that's what we've got.

no you didn't answer it. i didn't ask if you took notice of it, but whether you defend it.

you don't have to answer the simple question i asked, "do you defend the lie?", just don't pretend that you did.
