REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

And then you have to remember to allow any extension to the deadline, all 28 nations have to agree. Leo Varadkar is NEVER voting for something that breaks Good Friday.

Game over.

It'll be blanket rejection. The EU will not accept something from a third party (as post-Brexit, we are) that materially damages one of its members.

This is idiocy, sheer idiocy.

Four labour MP's voted with the government. There is also uproar that a Tory MP who was paired off not to vote with Jo Swinson, who has just given birth, reneged on the agreement and voted with the government on the key votes.

We know who the four Labour culprits are, Hoey, Hopkins, Field and Stringer. Always the same. Awful people, especially Hoey.

That 4 vote swing alone would have meant defeat for May and possibly the end of her premiership...Dicks

The paired MP voting with the government was an honest mistake by the whips. Fucking bullshit.

Anna Soubry's getting on my tits:

“These nonsenses of threatening general elections and votes of confidence in the prime minister, and as I actually said to the deputy chief whip ‘bring it on’ because I shall be the first in the queue to give my vote of full confidence in the prime minister,” she told BBC Radio 4’s Today progamme. “Problem is, I don’t think that she’s in charge any more. I’ve no doubt Jacob Rees-Mogg is running our country.”

Why would you be first in the queue to support someone who's lost control of her party, her government, the Brexit process and any semblance of reality?

There's a weird cognitive dissonance in politics at the moment. Nobody agrees with anything anybody else says or does and continues to support them wholeheartedly.

Sorry. I can't get bent out of shape by all this bollocks. We need a coup

So your answer to voting and being directly responsible for this is to have a coup?

A fucking apology should be given to the country by all those who voted for Brexit. Short of flogging you all, I hope you all rot in a Calais camp.

If a coup means Rees-Cunt or Gove in charge, I will stick with T-Bag, thanks very fucking much.

I hope you are proud of yourselves Brexit voters.

To be fair there probably did exist a version of Brexit that wouldn't have been too unpalatable. Still not really good as such, but not materially disadvantaging us too much. Too late now of course as we've wasted all our own time, we can only get a shit result now (or cancel the whole thing, which is the only sensible course of action, and of course will not happen).

But everyone, without exception should have known that we were never going to get anything decent from the people who would inevitably be charged with running the show. None of this is a surprise. It was handily signposted two years ago. We have merely arrived at our destination.

The fact our government is now openly saying "prepare for the worst and hope for the best" means now that the EU fully expects No Deal.

Still getting the same old shite on social media from leave-voting acquaintances.

"Leave means leave"

"Share if you think we should tell the EU where to go"

"Will of the people"

Not a single one of them has told me why they STILL think it's a good idea, and why they'd STILL vote leave if there was another referendum tomorrow. It's so incredibly frustrating.

It's clearly a fucking shambles and I don't want another vote. I want common sense to prevail above party politics and self preservation. It needs to be binned off completely - and yes, I know that isn't going to happen.

The Government are reportedly going to issue 70 technical notices to businesses and households with advice for coping in a No Deal scenario.

From there is no downside only a considerable upside in 2016 to releasing public announcements (presumably) telling us to start hoarding soup and medicine.

wtf do those idiots actually know, waste of paper and email bandwidth

Surely the government is going to tell us where to park our spitfires, what unicorns eat and how to deal with all the rainbows these unicorns are going to be shitting out everywhere, and how much interest wel'll earn on these million pound notes we're all getting as well.
More likely it'll be how much like mad max it's going to be

More bluff from this no hope government.

More resignations to follow?

Robert Peston

@Peston
I was told by well-placed source that a Tory backbencher was texted by chief whip with instructions to break pair on Tuesday night. “That is an order not a request” was how text was retold to me.
