REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

So clocks ticking on the biggest most important decision in decades,so let's let all the decision makers clear off on their holidays for 6-8 weeks, ridiculous.

Majority of just 3 for the government in the ERG customs amendment vote.

I think there should be a six month blanket ban on reporting anything to do with credit on any media. Completely impossible now I know. If it were then at lead there could be some focus. At the moment we have the worst government in 40 years led by the worst pm in living memory trying to make sense of the worst referendum choices ever opposed by the worst opposition ever.

In pretty much any other scenario the military would have taken over and fucked the lot of them. Oh, our military has been so cut back it couldn't do that it it wanted too.

We are approaching 10000 posts on this and still it's the same old rhetoric from every side. I can't say anything different as nothing's changed! Thank God there isn't a new Hitler or Stalin in the wings

Another government minister resigns after voting against the white paper in a protest against the ERG amendments.

Guto Bebb(? No nor me ) defence minister.

Oh, and Cable and Farron weren't even there. Well done lads.

Suits May to let them go early, doesn't it? No more pesky backbenchers holding meetings to discuss her future, making inconvenient speeches, holding her to account (after a fashion) - damn representative democracy thwarting the will of the people and putting her job in peril.

Much as I disagree with pretty much everything that's being done and said in Parliament at the moment, at least MPs are doing a job of making the government uncomfortable not just letting Treeza and her incompetent pals plough on with whatever old shit they came up with in the limo on the way to work.

Just a shame the people doing it have values and ideas that are the polar opposite to mine.

i think we've been headed for a no deal scenario since the last election. it was thought by many that part of the reason for TM going for a majority increase was to diminish the impact of dissenting voices in her own party, not just to hammer Corbyn. if she wanted a deal she'd have been better trying for some form of cross party consensus, though that would probably have been unthinkable to many who can only think on party political lines. to be fair, it would probably have been unworkable in the type of 'democracy' we have nevermind giving elements of the press the chance to rabble rouse every single day.

Really good point nimrod. If correct, that's twice now that a tory leader has called a GE/referendum to re-enforce their own position and it has backfired spectacularly. Which kinda shows how top level tories, and the tory mindset views most people with contempt, or at least without any empathy.

Cameron and Mays legacies will be one of division and creating lots of nastiness. Cameron divided the country, and effectively gave racism an increased platform. In addition, his administrations hammered disabled people to such an extent that numerous people now feel that this kind of action is ok, and reasonable:

Used to get that shit on the buses, had a young girl want me to move a wheelchair out the space for her double buggy, told her no,it's a wheelchair space, you'll have to fold the buggy down,or wait for the next bus,she went mental, and called the police, unbelievably, they turned up,took one look, and bollocked her for wasting their time

Dr Fox could have those pesky disabled types off public transport altogether soon...

I despair I really do.

It's just a fast race to the bottom, what was it kinnock said all those years ago " I warn you not to be old, poor, disabled,or ill" or something similar

May narrowly wins the vote to not keep the customs union after Brexit :icon_rolleyes:

It'll go to the Lords who, when they've finished laughing, will put the exact same amendment back in and kick it back to the house.

No deal it is then. Fucktards the lot of them.

Even if it passed the Lords, the EU would throw it straight back as it directly contradicts itself as well as being totally unworkable.

Pretty sure the VAT stuff contravenes the Good Friday Agreement. So yeah, in principle it's already no.
