REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

There are good points being raised here and a decent debate to be had. Stop the name calling please and try to abide by the rules of this sub section.

Kenny was in a bad enough mood last night, I'd hate to think how he'll be tonight if this thread goes further downhill and/or if Sheff Utd and Cardiff win later.

Cyber - the Government whips are doing all that they can to avoid defeat in any part of the Brexit debate. You will find that its them and the Ulster Unionists who are allowing such things to go through.

Tories are whipped on this, DUP will vote on all legislation as part of their deal = majority. Nobody said it was all leave voters who passed it through Parliament, just that without Brexit it wouldn't happen

Happy to. However , when I am treated like a child I am happy to act like one in the absense of anyone putting a visible stop to his trolling. He has been doing it for years and had a couple of minimal holidays, is the first to spout off and the last to be chastised. Sort his trolling then we can go back to being adults.

Sniffer wasn't just referring to you.

Saying 'but he started it' isn't a particularly helpful response when a moderator has asked people to stop bickering.

295 to 313.

Last time I counted there were 650 seats. So how do they win with 313 votes? As I said maths. Forget the whip there are not enough in 31`3 to have won this. So there MUST have been some chicken shit MP's from non-tories who ducked this and its them that should really hang their heads in shame. We , as president of the EU in 1997 got it recognised that animals were sentient so the rest of the EU followed our lead. Would it have been to much to assume that , given we campaigned for it , got it and were praised for it for 20- years , that the MPs would back its retention? I think not.

Another one missing the point. You know there are a number on here that troll like billyho. Langers- you only ever seem respond to one of my posts to defend someone else. But failing to deal with trolling full stop on this board is one of the reasons it still happens. Sort all the problems, then we can start to debate like adults. As I have said to you before. Dont defend people who dont need rescuing.

I’m on this bandwagon...I voted to remain because of the fact it would have been the right wing Tories charged with implementing it and this is what you get and there’s more of this to come. The door has been opened to roll back progressive legislation and as the economic reality bites expect more illiberal acts “for our own good”.

This is absolutely the point. The Tories were already in power pre-Brexit (there shouldn't have been an election this year - we are now actually worse off as they're propped up by creationist freaks).

By voting Leave you basically handed the right wing, anti-EU element of the Tories a blank cheque to do what they want and they're not even subtle about it, they've been banging on about deregulation and slashing away progressive EU laws for years.

Expect workers' rights to fall by the wayside fairly soon.

Ok if it helps I will take some of the blame. I am a brexiter. Without brexit ythere could not have been this vote. Yes I can see that. What I cannot see is that we have re-elecetd the tories since brexit. So how can the bad things that are happening now be down to brexit? Its down to the people voting them back in? Surely?

No I'm not missing the point - you're missing the point. I'm not defending anybody. Grow up and take the advice of the moderator who has tried to get the thread back on track. And please don't tell us how to moderate the forum.

There was only an election because Cruella decided it was a good idea. You can't have known that would happen in June 2016. At that point the Tories were inked in to be in power until 2020. So that blank cheque was always being handed over.

Oh the irony! I am not even going to spell that one out for you.

I am absolutely incensed by this. Further proof that many of the human race, especially MP's are often just a virus with shoes.

I too am livid about this but it is only the beginning.

We can look forward to seeing workers rights, human rights, environmental regulations etc. all being tossed to the side now as they get rid of all those pesky EU regulations that were stifling our sovereignty. It's on of the (many) reasons why I voted remain.

I am sure it's purely coincidence that all this deregulation will help some people line their pockets a bit more and absolutely not the reason why some MP's & businessmen were so passionately backing Brexit at all.

It's quite simple, he lied about them having done the prep and now they've had to panic and send out something that you wouldn't wipe your arse on.

We have an amazingly incompetent (and weak) Government dealing with an incredibly important process, it's going as well as you'd expect. If Cruella gave a shit about the country rather than herself then she'd have quit months ago so we could at least have a fair go at sorting this out, she hasn't because she's a terrible person as well as a terrible politician.
