The Treaty of the European Union says so.
Which Ireland are signed up to.
Which Ireland are signed up to.
I thought you didn't like uncontrolled immigration into the UK. Or is it only into Cambs that raises your objections?
Why can't you? Its not to the detriment of the EU? Who says that Ireland , a nation so close to the UK their rugby team plays as one cannot be given special status to avoid having an inland border. If your answer is the EU then you can now see why 17 m voted leave

Compromise. Ireland voted to remain. Ireland north and south don't want a border. Ireland has a minimal eastern European economic migrant issue with no tent shanties and Hugh scale begging scams. Northern Ireland and Ireland are unique and a solution should be found that recognises this
So do NI citizens need to show their passports to travel even though they are UK nationals? Do you not see the issue with this?
No it doesn't. It says you cannot restrict movement. My solution exempts Irish citizens post brexit from destruction and therefore complies. Port and airport controls do the rest
Jesus wept.
Because they are ALREADY IN. Your little passport control at the airport is nonsense because anyone can get in a boat from anywhere in northern ireland and sail over to anywhere over here without a passport.
IT $#@!ING DOESNT.
Your solution $#@!s on the Treaty from a Great Height because Cyber-Man says so. It is an absolute non-starter, especially as the Irish government have no desire to negotiate anything separate, which for some reason you keep skimming over.
Not post brexit as passport control is required ffs
Please please please show me where it says that. I am looking at hundreds of pages and can't find it. Show me it and I agree its dead
ALL EU MEMBER STATES MUST HAVE THE SAME RIGHTS AND NEGOTIATE AS A BLOC.
There are no exceptions. You open things for the Irish on that border, then you have to for everyone.
Yes. Small price to pay. Show your passport. Whoopie
What about the near 300km open border between the EU and NI?. EU passport holders legitimately disembark at one of the many Irish ports or airports and then 'flood' over the border into the UK.
Because you want to put the passport control inside the border which is irrelevant and pointless.
I imagine that'll be popular with the people of NI. Essentially what you're saying to NI is if you didn't vote Brexit, it's tough $#@! oh and you need a passport to travel to the U.K. which you're still a part of.
Small price to pay for you not wanting something you didn't vote for. Suck it up cupcake you're out of the EU and you'll like it OK.
You can't divide the UK up like that, what's next, Scots need a passport to travel to England? and do mainland Britons need a passport to travel to NI as they couldn't get back without one and who does those checks? Essentially your goal is to break up the Union isn't it, starting with the isolation of NI.

To be fair, we managed to get out of the 48 hour working week, so I guess Countries can make separate compromise.
