REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Just for once, just once, PLEASE admit you were wrong about something.

It would be liberating.

http://www.theecologist.org/News/ne...abuse_stalks_migrant_workers_on_uk_farms.html old but still an issue

BTW I am happy to admit when I am wrong. Being raised, working in as an adult and living in rural fenland does give me a bit of insight into this. Just because it is not supposed to happen doesnt unfortunately mean it is not a significant problem. But then most farmers and landowners vote tory so eradicating exploitation of migrant workers isn't high on the priortity list is it?

Please show me I am wrong and this isn't happening here and across Europe?

Bad news for ProgWolf; Brexit will lead to more people of a certain colour being granted visas...

Oh no .. can we get the Polish honkeys and the Latvian snow flakes back .... my gawd, what have we done

Good news and about time. EU membership has always been discriminatory towards people in the Commonwealth.

Apparently some of the brown ones in Luton voted to leave because they resented the white ones getting favourable treatment. The joys of multiculturalism eh ... so much harmony.

Those white bastards always get favourable treatment don't they.

The EU is in melt down. We just happened to spot it earlier than France, Holland, Denmark or others that are now considering leaving. The initial idea was great but once the UK opted out of schenghen, the euro etc it was always a matter of when we left not if.

Freedom of movement in a country that is far wealthier and with a higher average wage than 85% of the other member states is was and will be a recipe for disaster. You cannot blame eastern Europeans either. Come to Britain to work in an unskilled job and make more in a week than you can in a month back home. Come to London and everyone is doing the same in hotels, hospitality fast food. Nurses too, bank nurses also make good money. The vote to leave was as much a vote against our systems and against the direction government was taking as it was a vote to leave the EU.

Yes Cyber, but remember we are constantly being reminded on here that everyone who voted to leave is a bigot or a racist.

Yes living close to Cambridge I am reminded almost daily that Cambridge voted 65% remain. The same Cambridge that has some of the worse congestion on its roads of any city in the UK, the highest city centre parking charges outside of London 25 quid a day, cycle routes everywhere that create as much chaos as they cure and beggars intimidating citizens throughout the city centre. If the majority of people who voted to remain also think that the city in which they live is being well run, well policed with good opportunities for all then I am glad I do not share their views. Cambridge is not the city it was 20 years ago and that is not a good thing and it is not progress.

Imagine having no choice but to live in someone's back garden*

*Assuming the article isn't some standard bull shit from the express.

Is there or isn't there a problem housing people in this country? There is a demand for highly skilled and low skilled people in this country and not much in the middle. How should successive governments have planned for the increase in population and the subsequent increased demand on public services?

Oh, goodie. Another problem we left the EU to solve when the EU didnt cause the problem in the first place.

Trouble is many of the poorer people in this country who are competing for the same jobs/housing and using the same schools and hospitals as the economic migrants tend to think the free movement of labour doesn't actually benefit them. The freedom of the movement of Labour is entwined in European Law.

But we'll still have just as many economic migrants post Brexit....

It would take a very brave politician to even attempt to repeal current rights when the shift in the economy is towards low skilled, low paid work.

What do you think 'deregulating' means, Papper?

Would you be more likely to believe it if it was printed on a bus?

Fox is a cunt and no doubt.

I read somewhere that we have to become more productive which itself is not a bad thing (if the poor benefit), but I reserve the right to be cautious when people like Fox open their gobs so I'm not entirely disagreeing with you. His rhetoric is not a vote winner for the Cons more a vote loser. The bit on the bus was instantly dismissed as just another fart in a badly flatulent and stinky campaign by both sides. It didn't fool me :-)
