REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Corbyn is a fool, what possible purpose can this serve? The Bill's going to go through anyway. Plenty of Labour MPs would have voted for it anyway at this stage, regardless of their personal beliefs, because they represent Leave constituencies and don't want the earache of voting against that. He was notorious himself for voting against the whip. Just let everyone vote as they wish and you head any of this trouble off.

Once parliament voted 6 to 1 to give the people the vote to leave or stay in the EU and then the people democratically and fairly, choosing to leave the EU, anything else but a vote to accept the democratic choice to leave and release article 50, would be to me, not accepting the democratic will of the people.
If Parliament had not voted so overwhelmingly, by 6 to 1, to give the people the vote, I wouldn't feel the same, about a politician voting against article 50, but they did and I feel any politician who voted to allow the referendum in the first place, is a hypocrit and undemocratic to vote against it now and they should accept the result of the referendum.

You keep repeating that as though its true. It isnt.

Why not? That was the option on the referendum voting paper. 6-1, or 84% of the parliament voted to allow us to vote to leave or stay in the EU. It was 300 to 0 in the first paper. If the opposition party was against giving the people the choice to leave or stay, why didn't they vote against it. They mainly abstained on the first paper and by a huge majority for a referendum on the second paper.

I know you think your choice for staying in is a better choice, however, having voted by a massive margin to allow us to vote, leave or stay, your response is don't act on it, because although to stay lost, we have superior knowledge and it was geriatrics and uneducated fools who voted to leave, so don't listen to them.
In a referendum or an election, every vote is equal and as you know we voted to leave the EU. If the politicians were against having a referendum, they should have won the votes in the 2015 referendum bill, instead of voting for a referendum and now you are asking them having asked us to vote, now not to listen to will of the democratic referendum, but to vote not to let us enact are democratic right to start negotiatons to leave the EU.

Personally , and you know I am in the leave camp, I would love parliament to vote AGAINST the white paper. Then we could expose the politicians for the shysters the majority are.

However they wont and there will be lots of smoke blown up a few arseholes , a bit of posturing and rhetoric and the bill gets passed and off we go with the real work. If the politicians put as much effort into solving issues as they do blustering and sounding off about issues we would have, fewer issues!

And my final point while we are on a roll! The turnout was 72%. That means for whatever reason 28% did not vote. If just a fraction of those had been voting remain then the result would have been different. Its no good arguing " its not the will of the people" unless you come up with a system that makes voting mandatory and includes "Abstain" on every ballot paper. That way a protest vote could be abstain because if abstain was the majority then the result may be null and void! That really would be democracy in action and the will of the people.
