REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Apparently looking after refugees who are 17 years and 364 days old is fine. But taking in one who is two days older will bring about the destruction of Britain.

This is not all about brexit for e. Ever since 9/11 anyone who resembles a Muslim seems to be viewed with suspicion. That has been heightened by both the media playing on the fear side and genuine Muslim organizations who have not been as vocal as they could have been in condemning acts of terror. Just like the fear of crime all sense if proportion goes out of the window. It is not helped by the way things are reported here

But the one fueled the other. As the saying goes not all those that voted out are racists, but all racists voted out. I know you don't fall into this camp Cyber.

The whole Brexit debate and subsequent victory has legitimised in their own minds the racist and xenophobic views that many in this country hold. In truth it never went away, I've been involved in or overheard enough conversations over the years to know this, but they were seen as unacceptable outside of their social circle. The 'war on terror' and particularly Brexit has seen people feel they are more open to express them.

The Sun, Mail and Express then play on this, further perpetuating the view that it is OK and correct to hold these views. An example of this last week I overheard whilst at hospital were three people discussing the child or not child issue and taking it a stage further by saying they couldn't be genuine asylum seekers as they didn't look malnourished, so shouldn't be allowed in. The little Englander has been given their voice and boy are they using it.

I am a brexiter. But I will cocede you're correct. No racists voted remain.

Don't believe the hype. There are all kind of racists and religious fanatics in this country.

I will accept the assumption that the majority of racists that voted would have supported Brexit, but there are some that would have voted remain.

That article almost reads like a satire!

On the same website:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/10/21/eu-is-impossible-to-do-deals-with-canada-says-sparking-fears-abo/

I think 5 years is optimistic personally. Canada has been waiting 7, and they're not ratified, and possibly unlikely to be. Yet Boris, Davis et al say it'll all be done in a ridiculously short space of time?

While waiting for the car MOT this morning I had the misfortune to read the Daily Heil.

Apparently the banks aren't making relocation plans. Not at all. All a big remoaner lie.

And the Heil are pushing the idea of cutting corporation tax to 10% to entice firms to stay whatever type of Brexit we get. Okaaay...

So Amazon will pay 6m tax a year rather then 12m?

Amazing.

I thought of EXACTLY that company when I read the story. No doubt the Heil will be up in arms over the bill and righteously indignant even if it is their proposal.

Interesting article

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2016/10/24/the-eurozone-is-turning-into-a-poverty-machine/

There are other measures that make that clear as well. Across the EU, 8pc of people are defined as “severely materially deprived”, which means that they lack access to what most civilised societies regards as basic necessities – if you tick four out of nine boxes, which include not being able to afford to heat your home, eat meat or fish or a similar protein at least every other day, or pay for a phone, then you fall into that category.

Strikingly, several eurozone countries are now starting to lead on those measures. Greece, inevitably, is rising fast, with 22pc of the population now falling into that category, compared with only 11pc back in 2008. In Italy, a country that was as prosperous as any in the world two decades ago, a shocking 11pc of the population are now “materially deprived” compared with 7.5pc seven years ago. In Spain the rate has doubled, and in Cyprus it is up by more than 50pc.

And yet if you look at countries outside the single currency, that rate is either broadly stable, as it is in the UK for example, or else falling at a respectable rate – in fast-growing Poland, for example, the numbers suffering “material deprivation” has halved in the last seven years, and, at 7.5pc, is now a lot less than it is in Italy.

GDP in July to September +0.5%

Better than analysts predictions of +0.3% and slightly down on Q2 (+0.7%)

Q: How many Brexiters does it take to change a lightbulb?

A: SHUT UP, YOU LOST, THIS IS BRITISH DARKNESS.
