REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Shit just got real. The Leave campaign never said anything about us losing our Marmite. The complete and utter bastards!

Typical.
But a no-win for politicians. Pro marmite you'll upset half the electorate, against you'll upset the other half.
Marmite was never on the table.

More to the point we are now seeing the biggest supplier in Unilever arguing with the biggest retailer in Tesco because neither of them want their margins crushed by the effects of Brexit. Eventual result will be that neither does and the inevitable price rise will be passed to the consumer.

Oh joy of joys.

Not getting involved in this argument at all but this is completely wrong. Wolverhampton Homes still ran a points based system as of 2010. Yes, people had to bid for properties but they were then awarded to the person with the highest points allocation who were eligible to bid on that property. They still do it as far as I'm aware. We waited five years to be moved from a one-bed flat to a two-bed house, there were four of us living in there. I eventually took our case to the E&S in the way of an open letter, it got us nowhere but boy did I get some frustration off my chest.

At the time I'd been through two redundancies and the wife had lost her job so we couldn't afford to buy right then, we were stuck in cramped living conditions while larger properties were allocated to single parent families with one child. I'm not condoning or agreeing with THMs arguments (they're ridiculous) but please don't make out the authority housing system is fair because I can tell you it certainly $#@!ing isn't. Five years of hell I went through with it so I know first hand.

It clearly states on the government's own website, that their still is a points system in place.

It seems to me that a lot of people voting leave did so because they wanted sovereignty back. That's not unreasonable.

But now that the supreme sovereign body of UK politics. the HoC, wants to scrutinize the process they dont want it involved.

Maybe some people just want to be able to do what they want without needing to worry about trivialities such as the well being of others?

I appreciate that we don't agree with each other (Probably an order statement), but can we please try and keep it civil. Thanks.

I'd be quite happy with that - with a Scottish nan I'd stand half a chance of getting a Scottish/EU passport.

TBF given that what, 67% voted to remain up there, she's got every right to ask the question.

tbf I think everyone in England would have a right to a Scottish passport given we are currently one country?

I think she definitely has a mandate to request a 2nd referendum. If they vote for independence (which they surely will) then we only have our own government to blame.

Unfortunately, I think I only have a Welsh grandparent so still could not get my hands on an EU passport. I may have to do some further digging into my family tree though just to make sure!

I really don't think it's their fault this time, they didn't vote Brexit, and we all know who did. Thankfully with a Scottish father me and my kids will be sound in Nicola's new world. The wife has a Scottish gran so she'll be good too.

I think I would vote for Scottish Independence if I could and I think Sturgeon is probably the right person to be in charge of that referendum and I think the Scots would vote to quit. Their only problem, and it's a massive one, is that there are several countries who would veto their membership to the EU. If they got around that then I think they could be in for some happy days.

There's the currency issue too, it really wouldn't be a very good idea for Scotland to adopt the Euro but all new member states are compelled to do so. Plus they wouldn't be allowed to keep sterling, that was a big part of the debate the last time they had a referendum.

Still, anything is better than living on UKIP Island.

Hmm, makes you wonder why she was in the stay campaign when ultimately the leave campaign would get the result she wants.
Because destroying the livelihoods of 100000s of people is a *really bad* thing perhaps?
