REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

A collection of social media.

Doesn't surprise me. End of the day the result is what it is and name-calling isn't going to change it. No point railing against the electorate. None at all. I am more angry with those running such an incompetent remain campaign.

"and we shall call it Independence Day". He actually said it. Fucking cunt.

Best case UK stabilises reaches trade agreements and there is a controlled disengagement.

Worst case fuck knows - break up of the UK, economic collapse, trade barriers going up all over the world, protectionism, EU breaks up Euro collapses, right wing UKIP like parties getting into power all over Europe, trade wars.

I thought my dislike of Nigel Farage could not get anymore until this morning

There is an awful lot of EU development money in Scotland. I should think they'll be fine if that increases, as it will, post independence

No it bloody isn't. Scotland have been sold down the river. 2014 there were told a vote to stay in UK was a vote to stay in the EU. They are now being pulled out by force and they will not stand for it.

though it might seem the obvious conclusion now, who knows what will happen with Europe gong forward, never mind the economic considerations the Scots would have to consider.

They could have, yes. Bit harder for them to get it as the Party that would want that are not the biggest in Wales so there wouldn't really be a push for it.

I'm not sure - stability is important at a time like this. He could stay on whilst the structure of negotiations is sorted out st the very least.

The most important thing is that he doesn't rush to put the two years notice in - get organised first.

Even more respect for Carswell this morning - "now is a time for us to hear less from Nigel Farage and let the Government do what they need to do"

Doubt Nige will listen.

Result isn't what I wanted but Democracy and all that jazz - Anyone think we could get a snap General Election or will the Conservative get to 2020 with a very weak unified front?

Wales is a net EU beneficiary as well and that will be scaled down. But that is what Wales voted for. There will be plenty of projects mothballed.

The decision has been made & all need to allow a period of reflection and response in a less febrile atmosphere - though suspect that in an era of mass social media that won't happen.

Hopefully we can not all fall out over this on here

To have a snap election you would need to repeal the parliament act. Doable. But you only call snap elections normally if you think you can win. Last night tells Cameron anything it tells him he isn't exactly popular.

They won't vote to leave, unfortunately.
What's your problem with the Scottish? They might have different views to some of us, but so do other people and parts of the country, they're also not one big block all thinking the same thoughts

Leave the UK? Yes they will. By miles.

to join what? The Scottish economy is not strong enough to go it alone and does not meet enough criteria to join the eu.It would also need to join the euro and do something about border control. It wont happen as by the time another referendum did take place exit for the UK will look a lot clearer.

Nothing with Scottish per se, I just don't agree with them been subsidised and don't agree with them having such an influence on how our votes turn out.

And that is one part of what local Remain campaigners should have been pushing.
Showing regenerated areas via euro cash where local councils had no intention
of touching but for the persistance of certain folks.

Make people appreciate their own surroundings and feel good about the country they live in.

What with the new expected recession, what will happen to this HS2 bollocks now.
