REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

The ridiculous we are doomed predictions are bollocks, the Economy is doing as well as it was before, the FTSE is 1 point of it's record high.

You do realise we havent actually left yet, dont you?

The FTSE is at a high because many of the Companies have an overall value in US$. Therefore if the value of the pound falls, the share price has to rise to compensate.

Stock exchanges are not representative of economic health.

Well that didn't take long. Pound is now at €1.10.

$#@!ed. Absolutely $#@!ed.

For some bizarre reason it was nothing to do with Europe but with machine algorithms in Asia meaning the pound dropped against the dollar too. No explanation either.

Oh and Liam Fox is an utter cunt.

I'd love to see examples of these companies rampantly employing Lithuanians on £2.50 an hour. Being as that's, y'know, massively illegal.

That was the spike downwards this morning, it did bump back up. We have been on a massive downward trend all week, mostly due to the fascist rhetoric and pie in the sky talking coming out of Birmingham:

Ah right, didn't see the recovery bit. I agree the nonsense from the Party Conference isn't helping matters, it really is bullshit dressed up as policy. The 'foreign workers' comment from Amber Rudd is chilling and not something I want to hear from any ruling party.

I hope the xenophobic utter fucking arsehats. that had their free education and kept all the blacks, Irish and dogs out of their pubs in the 70's are happy now.

I feel sorry for the kids in their late teens and early 20s. OK, I'll end up having a shit time of it with them* for the next 30-40 years, but at least I had a fair run of things myself for a while. Those poor sods have got no chance.

*Unless I leave the country, which if I ever sort myself out, I'm more and more attracted to doing (and I'm fortunate enough that my natural skills would mean I could get along OK in the right place, not everyone has that luxury). Long way to go though.

I think that has particularly irked me as well Dan. My kids will always have a harder time now than I have because of a bunch of narrow minded idiots and that's a shitty thing to happen. I pointed this out to a friend of mine who voted out and he said it was rubbish and he genuinely believes that the kids (his are similar ages to mine) are better off out! It's bizarre thinking.

This particular friend highlighted a problem I have with many that have voted out, in that, they have never traded with Europe and only ever leave to go to England-on-Sea. Not even a City break or work call with a European. It stinks of Little Englander syndrome.

Not that I'll ever have kids, but to think that students in the future won't have the same opportunity I had, to easily live and work overseas and massively grow one's self as a person...how does that help anyone?

It's been nearly four months and I still struggle to believe that rabid, fringe beliefs have become mainstream.

He'll notice it next year when his holiday will cost him 15% (and rising) more as will his new electrical appliance and most of his supermarket shop.

I pointed this out to him. He may as well have gone 'la, la, la' with his fingers in his ears, or I may as well have been speaking flemish. Some people really won't believe it's bad until they have to admit it personally and that's a year too late.

I always get the accusation that I'm biased. Well duh, someone who has the singular skill of speaking European languages and who lived in Germany might side with the Remain argument. But then I don't make my arguments based on that, I've kept it as far as possible on an economic level. Which is a fucking disaster zone.

I'd love to visit the planet where the EU give us everything we want while taking no concessions from us whatsoever. Sadly David Icke is closer to reality than that nonsense.

I still can't comprehend the mindset that voted leave 'because there are too many immigrants' even though they will have as much chance of being personally affected by the symptoms of immigration as Michael Mancienne will be by the Ballon D'Or nominations.

The Tories at present seem defined by crowing that they're in power and you lot aren't, so nerrr. We don't need policies or anything.

They caused this mess out of absolutely nowhere, a referendum based on internal party management, so they should be at least trying to fix it. But no.

You could of course make the same case for jeremy Corbyn couldn't you? Doesn't like people in his party that think differently and has teams of people acting 'independently' to put pressure on using violence in some cases. Oh and you could always just sack your political opponents in your own party because, y'know, they have a different opinion and champion other MP's in the party.

Of course the Tories, as unpalatable as they are at the moment aren't anywhere near the Nazi party and nor is Labour, but you carry on.

The Holocaust never appeared in any election manifesto.
