REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Hmmm

Trading with China.

Well that is a CERTAIN WINNER.

Apart from the fact that Chinese labour costs mean that any similar Chinese product will be cheaper in that market. Can't see Buy Blitish getting over that hurdle.

And then we have the real JUMBO in the corner. You make anything super original and amazing and try and market it in China and within 6 weeks it will be copied, de-branded, and available cheaper. IP laws just don't exist there to any legally challenging extent.
Opening trade with China would be catastrophic for you. If you think British manufacturing is dead now, check again with an increased number of Chinese imports.

Im sure your knowledge of British Industry is superb Alan but Chinese imports aren't really going to affect our manufacturing base. They are apples and pears by comparison.

You only need to look at the rust belt to see what happens when you introduce products with such low labor costs.

Again, you're comparing apples with oranges. I'd quit while you're behind.

My point about IP issues is still strong. China will fuck you up by nicking your product identity. Because the legal laxity in China allows it to happen.

So haughty...

Says the man from another country telling its residents how manufacturing in their country works. Ironic really.

Paddy - I'm not sure any IP issues will arise as this won't change on Brexit and those problems already exist with China. I am slightly worried that we seem to be making things difficult to both manufacture in, and export to Europe as that leaves us weak to competitive pricing, particularly from Southern and Eastern Europe.

Why don't you explain how the UK manufacturing industry is different instead of getting on your high horse, then?

On the back of hard brexit looks like GBP heading for 1.1

Never mind though, Boris, Liam and friends say it will all be FINE

Oh and we are at a 31 year low against the dollar.
Well that didn't take long. Pound is now at €1.10.

Fucked. Absolutely fucked.

52% of the country voted to drag the other 48% over a cliff with them :(

Stop moaning, you lost, get over it, etc etc.

I like the way our 'no government' style of government is taking decisive action to stop all this.

We are not even getting the obvious expected benefit:

Britain's trade gap widened in August, despite hopes that a weaker pound had been boosting exports in the wake of the Brexit vote.

TheOffice for National Statistics saidthe UK's deficit on trade in goods and services hit £4.7bn in August, widening by £2.5bn from July.Imports rose by £2.6bn, while exports only grew by £100m.

Dr Liam Fox, the international trade secretary, said: "While some sectors continue to perform well, there is still some way to go to ensure that we are exporting as much as we could and should do."

Odd isn't it that while Boris promised us the joys of an Australia or Canada-like state, we actually have more in common with South Africa and Zimbabwe. If only there'd been any expert opinion vehemently warning that Brexit would be a disaster.

It's cool guys, we're going to put 350 Lira into the NHS with the money we save from going to corrupt olive farmers and all the 52% have done this so their grandkids can drive with less congestion and own their own homes.

Yeah. This was clearly a decision of "the people".

The open government organisation Transparency International said its findings would increase fears about public debate, particularly the EU referendum, being prone to “political capture” by a small “millionaires club” of ultra-wealthy individuals.
I am so glad that this was an open and fair campaign, organised and run by elected experts, rather than those unelected hidden agenda types...

For me, in addition to the above, this, and ultimately camerons legacy will be an extremely negative impact on public political debate. What we have seen for almost a year now is a political debate that has descended gradually into bigotry. It has legitimised people like farage and his followers to put up vile posters, behave xenophobically, and generalise and stereotype in phenomenally vile ways.

The public has seen this behaviour, and adopted it themselves. It has legitimised them to publicly start announcing they have got their country back, and we can send em all back home. And that is a total disgrace.

And it is getting worse. Look at some of the conservative conference this past week. Name and shame companies with non-british workers? Fuck! Why not make them wear yellow armbands for christs sake.

I am becoming ashamed of what people put forward as political debate nowadays.

I couldn't agree more with every word you've said there LJ. I cannot believe how much my beliefs seem to differ from a big chunk of the population. Over the last few months I have felt less and less proud to be British. The xenophobic rhetoric in this country is becoming more and more shameful and the people who are running the country are only encouraging it.

So much Condescending bullshit on here from sore losers that do not want democracy.

Why should Companies employ foreign Labour over British Labour ? they do it for one reason, unskilled Immigration drives salary's down, lets get someone from Lithuania to do the job for £2.50 an hour.
I want immigration, but I want it to plug skills gaps not to reduce salary's and increase benefit payments. (I do not mean all immigrants get benefits)

I want the UK economy to be given the same priority as the Polish economy, the Eu have always been for removing companies from the UK, with the promise of large grants for moving to the lower economies.
The EU worked when it ws several states of the same size, then we started including countries where the economy was a fraction, this just caused a brain drain in these countries to Germany, Italy, France, UK, so the Eu started giving grants for companies to move out this country and go else where.

Both sides need each other, we may be 70 million, but we are the 2nd biggest economy. Germany needs our custom, just as France does, we are Germany's biggest customer. They want to introduce levies, thats fine so will we making there goods more expensive, thus reducing there exports to us.

I voted out, I never wanted to be in the EU, we were never asked if we wanted to be part of the EU.
Do I think we will leave ? No I don't believe we will, I think the EU will reform to keep us.

The ridiculous we are doomed predictions are bollocks, the Economy is doing as well as it was before, the FTSE is 1 point of it's record high.

I didn't think it was possible to get so much wrong in one post, congratulations.

With you both 100%. And said far more eloquently than I could have managed.

I came back from holiday with €130 left over. I'll keep hold of those. They'll be worth a fortune in a few months.
