I did...I was there!
Shot from 25yds in opening minute; You expect a keeper of Ruddy's quality to save it and he did despite the ball moving around.
Back pass to him from CC that wasn't played along the ground and took a bounce, JR sliced the clearance but no harm done (ball could've gone anywhere)
We play sublime, passing football and open them up, 1-0.
2nd half...
Leo has a shot from outside of the area and the keeper stands there knowing he is beaten but narrowly wide
Great football by Reading to open us up down their left, defence splitting cross but Ruddy makes a wonder save...It's what Wolves pay him for.
Boly gets the slightest of touches on the follow up shot but it was probably going wide anyway
Inexperienced play by Vinagre who tries to dribble the ball out of our area, Ruddy does his job to block the shot and young Ruben recovers to stop the rebound from developing into a chance
Absolutely lovely football by Helder Costa (welcome back lad) and in the second phase he plays a great 1-2 with Doc who fires home
Game over!

Boly was immense;
I don't care what Bennett's stats say, Miranda should be back in for him on Wednesday. The two 2nd half chances came down his side and he isn't as composed on the ball as Roderick;
Douglas will probably come back in for Vinagre but that is no slight on the lad;

For all their possession Reading created only a couple of clear cut chances of their own making and we sat back and soaked up the "pressure" (in honesty there wasn't any in any area that could cause us much danger)
We move on to Leeds

Part of me thinks Bennet is partly in for a cynical foul! Which the couple I've seen him commit he's done well.

Agreed. He's the Gary Breen of this team.

Bennett has done nothing wrong but If you put Miranda or Hause in for him then you improve our ability to pass the ball out from the back. We need to keep the ball fed into Saiss & Neves.

Look at the passmaps for the Reading game, we need to pass the ball better amongst that central defensive 5. https://twitter.com/11tegen11/status/931932138617868295

I watched the whole game on a live stream. Caveleiro was phenomenal in the first half, Ruddy was shaky (not helped by Cody) but in the second half Ruddy was fantastic and, by doing his job well, essentially won the game for Wolves. Vinagre played very well (except for his one lapse) and Bennett I felt was always a bit of a liability. For the Leeds game I would bring in Hause on the left (he impressed no end against Man City) and move the most impressive Boly to the right. I would also bring back Douglas so that Vinagre can be brought on slowly. Clearly, he is the player for the future, just as I think Hause is too. Costa's cameo had me very excited about the future. Wolves are a formidable team playing impressive football. Despite Reading having most of the possession in the second half and creating two good chances down the right side of our defence, I never had the sense that they threatened to take the game because they lacked clinical finishing. It's a real thrill to see Wolves playing such glorious football again (and Saturday's game against Reading ws not their best by a long way). It reminds me of the excitement I used to have in the 1950s when I loyally supported Wolves in the North Bank. I don't think it's being overly presumptious to say that the odds are now that they will be in the Premier League next season. That means I shall have to put money aside to fly over and watch two or three games (which I did in the 2009-10 season). Long may this brilliant football continue!

I couldn't care less to be honest. He's kept a clean sheet in over half of his games since he joined us and he marshals his defence superbly.

To dwell on his mistakes, which every good keeper make from time to time, strikes me as petty.

I think some of the comments giving him first/second half ratings are pretty fair. If Aguero has a shit game would it be "petty" to give him a low score, since after all strikers have off days?

To be clear I wasn't the one making those comments in the first place, but I think it's a bit silly to suggest that any criticism is somehow completely out of left field. We got the result despite most of the team having their foot a bit off the pedal, not just ruddy['s first half]. These types of games will happen. I'm happy with the result.

It'd be more like having a go at Aguero if he missed two good chances in the first half, but in the second half scored two superb goals and City won 2-0. If Ruddy's errors caused us to lose then it'd be more justified, like it'd be fair to have a real go at Aguero if those misses were his only opportunities and City ended up not scoring.

Mind you, Leo gets shade thrown at him even though he's scored 10 goals in 17 games because he misses chances, so who knows.

FWIW the first one was a bit of an awkward bounce and though it's pretty unconventional to save a ball with your face, he got the job done. The kick against Barrow was bloody stupid, I wouldn't defend that. Could have hammered it anywhere, he wasn't even looking what he was doing, lazy.

If Ruddy fails to perform then I guarantee you Nuno will put Norris in. He doesn't tolerate players dropping off in any way whatsoever, hence Batth and Miranda being absent since QPR.

And some people gave two scores, so again, seems fair enough.

Personally I think that kind of improvisational skill is exactly what's needed to get through the campaign. :devilsmile:

I smiled when Nuno was asked about Ruddy's saves on Channel 5's Championship. With a steely gaze he replied coolly: "It's his job"!

I know Walt had his ripped jeans and shades but Nuno is a different sort of cool

On a side note, are Reading the quietest home fans ever, Imean, for twenty minutes or so towards the end of the game their team were going for it, but there was barely a squeak. Apparently that annoying drummer is no more, and without it they don't do anything.

Jaap Stam has upset a lot of Reading fans who are now refusing to sing in protest over comments he has aimed at them

Contrast that with the way Nuno and the Wolves fans get on.
